help with kitchen light fixture Idea!

Hey, I have attached a pic and need help deciding what to get to match my new stainless steel appliances. The microwave is coming in later today, and the light needs to go! Just don't know if i should go with a ceiling fan stainless steel/nickel modern look, or a small chanderliar that will have 4-5 lights ... any suggestions?

Is that lattice on your ceiling?
If that's staying, a fan would fit into this more rustic look. I don't care for fans, nor fans in kitchens, myself, but that's one of the options you listed.

Your ceilings also don't look high enough for a fan, unless you can find a really flush fan.

I'd have to see your chandelier. I lean towards a flush-ish, simple light fixture, since you have so much going on up there with the lattice.
Like your appliances. Very sleek.

Thank you man! Yeah this is some rectangle box which came with the condo has to go! Here is what it looks like now, I will have this whole piece taken off.. only reason I thought a nice modern nickel fan was because I can have the 4 lights come out to match..

We have a flushmount lamp that we fondly call it "the triangle" because of its shape. It is made by Bolivar and is available at several websites and your local lamp store can order it for you too. It's in our prep area and it is Title 24 compatible and gives lots of light to work by. There are lots of lights similar to to this style and near flush mount that might work for you. I looked at lots of different lighting sites... croft and little, ylighting, brodwax all have lights at reasonable (and more!) prices that might work for you. Have you also thought about doing a custom lampshade? Could be diy or artisan? Your kitchen has lots of great colors and shapes and a spot of color of up there would be neat, imo. Have fun!

That is some really nice granite! I decided to take a look at some pendant lights (I assume they'll go over an island, but if you need something else, like a ceiling semi-flush mount, please let me know) and chose to look at pendants with nickel finish to go with the cabinet handles. I can expand the search to include bronze or other finish families too, though! You can use led cans instead of a light box. Those can be spaced to provide ambient lighting on dimmers. Small recessed led cans go over the work areas to provide task lighting. Place them so you don't create a shadow over what you're cutting. A center light box isn't the optimal source these days.

It depends on the chandelier I guess, but I can't see one there. If you need a fan (and here in the south they are necessary) I'd go with a ss flush mount with light. I think it would work in your space.

ok thanks guys, quick question if i wanted to hire someone to do reese's lights does anyone know what I am looking at for price? I am guessing under 1k right?

Our GC took down our entire ceiling, removed the soffits, added recessed lighting - we had to move plumbing and electrical - it was ~$2500 but a lot more work than you will need.

Never mind, they can't do it anyone because it is concrete. Ok so If I was going to do a ceiling fan, what amount of wattage would you consider to light up the kitchen and is there anyway around this? Alot of reviews of the fans i like show the light is hard to see but then others comment and say you can put a different bulb in that runs 24w but shines really bright.. Not sure any advice? I will do the fan, just worried about lighting issues..
