Simple remodel to begin - a few questions

Hi all. Been getting great info on this forum, so a big thanks to all who post here. DH and I are starting a very basic kitchen remodel to a 2nd floor condo in S. Florida. We are not making any changes to the layout as we don't plan to stay here more than five years. We are trying to keep cost to a minimum - home sales here are not good, and this is not a high-end condo to start with. So far we are planning:

new cabinets - white Shaker

replace countertops - Caesarstone in Amazon Green or Lagos Blue (if anyone has pics of Amazon Green, would love to see them)

new applicances - GE Cleansteel

Still to pick:

sink, faucet, cabinet hardware

Pictures and layout of existing kitchen

Question 1:

Which way should fridge door swing? Currently swings towards cabinets, and I cannot open inside drawer for cleaning without pulling fridge out from wall. Switching so that doors opens to the left might fix this, but wouldn't the flow seem funny?

Question 2:

Should we lengthen upper cabinets from 30" to 36"? We have the room, but I am short and can't get to anything on the top shelf of current cabinets as it is.

Thanks
