No backsplash...should I add 4' granite bs?

Hello! This is my first post. We will hopefully be breaking groud on our new home soon. Need advice on our kitchen. It's going to have white shaker full overlay cabinets, honed absolute black granite counter tops with stainless steel appliances. There will be no upper cabinets, but there will be a 10inch shelf on one wall. We plan to use a tin backsplash for the range. We were not planning on a back splash for the rest of the kitchen since there are no upper cabinets and there would be no good place to stop. Also, one entire wall is filled with windows.

So the question is: Do I need the 4" granite backsplash piece to protect my walls? I don't really like the look of it, would rather not spend the money on it but I wonder if my paint will be contantly stained, or get wet and peel?
