Columnea growth rate, morning sun?
Comments (29)Purple..What's the temp there? I do everything the last minute, too..dh teases, 'you procastinate no matter how early you wake.' lol. I honestly believe GW has a lot to do with putting things off. I might not fool a jury, but dh might buy the story. Purple, Purple, Purple. Who's Purple. What's Purple. Why is it Purple's fault? Do you like AV's? When I saw this guy, I had to order. It's called, Jolly Jubilee. If you have time, Google or check Violet Barn. The only other AV I want is Happy Harold...Of course it was out of stock. In the first pic, your Columnea leaves look glossy. In the next photo, foliage looks fuzzy. My eyesight is getting worse, so it's hard to be certain. Which is it..glossy or fuzzy? Will you summer your Col outdoors then bring inside during winter? If you bring indoors, will your Col be placed in shade, bright light or direct sun? Purple, how long will you be in NO's? Do you have someone to water plants while you're gone?...See MoreThe Dark Garden: Just Pictures
Comments (103)You know I read this about four thirty and could stop laughing till about six really. This is going to entertain me all day. Really lets think about this a second. How many things have you brought to the table to reduce your dependence on oil based fertilizers in the last five years? While you start thinking about whether you should start thinking about it. Let me tell you from my side. 8. Thats right. Eight different containers with explanations, pictures the usual things people take for directions . This is peoples favorite one. Heres another. Gatta a laugh when I think about what you can grow with this on a shelf. I even show people how to build the shelving unit out of PVC pipe and press board. Even the kind of lighting they should use. Wait, wait, how many forums are you on. Do we have to wait again while you think about that too. On my side lets see. Container Gardening, Hot Topics, Access Gardening, Vertical Gardening a few others not mentioning. But one I do want to mention is Garden writing. Theres even tragedy in my life. Ive lost the woman I love. Homie youre a failed blogger. Yes. Homie in order to talk about life you have to had had a life. All of its ups and downs all arounds. Thats how you can figure methods that people arent restricted to old ways of Hydroponics they can no longer afford. And make it look good while your doing it too. And, so many ands. Ive already emailed all of the last five years of all I know to Haiti and the United Nations so I wont be feeling the urge to "sew " anybody soon. My vision is to creation of a Cadre of Gentleperson farmers for the Urban environment. Farmers who grow on concrete, asphalt, rocky ground, sidewalks, roof tops, school yard, railroad tracks, contaminate ground, down streets, back yards and up walls. My vision is to provide a school of thought that would allow people to grow their own food, fiber and bio-fuel needs in an urban setting using the recycled products that we commonly use for storage and recycle. Even my motives you wont understand because you think in terms of teabaggers "sweing" people over a hole in a bucket. See it makes me start smiling again. Homie Im looking for Regina and if I have to become famous to find you woman so be it. All the rest is just trinkets compared to growing old with you. So Homie really if you want to push the old oil based ways I wont try and stop you really. Its a free and open forum where information is freely given whether its understood or not without people who think of "sweing " people over their survival. Like I said this is going to tickle me all day....See MoreLog for Grow-Out: Page 2
Comments (114)Bumping this thread - and showing one of my runts, the biggest. I have 4 in total (the 5th did not survive), seeds from UK Phil germinated around the 15th of November 2015. So they are 7 months old... The seedling has branched out from the top but I did not prune it. I suspect that the growth tip dried up 4-5 months ago. The seedling does not grow new leaves and have been dormant for two month or so, even under lights. I have been keeping it moist, though. It is no darling of mine (might change!). The nodes are not tight probably due to my excessive watering regime in an attempt to accelerate growth. I failed. ;-) And yes, it needs a bigger container......See MoreHow to find equivalents (different brand/cost, same product)?
Comments (8)It depends on what you mean by "quality furniture." As JudyG stated, the very high-end brands do not sell their products through discounters like Wayfair. Sometimes you'll find discontinued or poor-selling items at the online discounters, but that's a hit or miss. There are certain brands that sell their products both in retail stores and online, but the retailers are smart enough to know that consumers will price the items online, so the retailers will usually match the price. I recently bought a Miele vacuum cleaner at a local store and the price was lower than online, plus the salesman added 2 packages of bags gratis. (The salesman actually checked the online price while I watched!) I did not pay for shipping either, which I probably would have had to do online. So sometimes the local retailer is less expensive. I also think that it is unethical to use the retailers to touch and feel the product, get free advice, and then turn around and purchase the same item online. Consumers using this practice are putting the retail stores out of business, and it is a very sad situation in the furniture industry. It's amazing how many good furniture stores and manufacturers have closed their doors in the past 10 years or so. Between being squeezed by the online retailers and the influx of cheap imports, quality furniture is becoming less and less available. Judy is correct--some of the best furniture is already made and used, and you can get it on Chairish, Ebay, and other online auctioneers....See More- 11 years ago
