I LOVE IT TOO!!!!!!!! Beautiful, mine gets installed today...I have the same color scheme. Hope mine looks as nice as yours.

I had to finally stop caressing the rock and come to work--although I can't wait to get home again. I've not yet licked it (mostly because it still smells pretty strongly of adhesive).

To answer some questions--it is Typhoon Bordeaux granite. I intended to use Santa Cecelia from the beginning, but when I brought a sample into the house it didn't really do anything to tie in the colors of our koa floors. This had the color of the cabinets, the faucets and appliances, the flooring and a bit of red to tie in with the furniture in the living room--it was perfect.

The cabinets are Kraftmaid-Marquette style in Canvas with Cocoa Glaze (f/k/a Vanilla Bean glaze). The sink is a Rohl Allia (it was supposed to be white--but apparently we got the bisque color which turns out to be exactly the same color as the cabinets--a wonderful accident!).

I don't really have a good close up of the hood yet since its not completely finished. Kraftmaid sent 3 incorrect end panels so they can't finish enclosing the hood cabinets until the end panels arrive. The hood is basically two Wood Mantel Hood pieces mounted to fluted columns back to back. I wanted something that looked nice from both the kitchen and the adjoining dining room. I cooked up this scheme and couldn't find any pictures where anyone had used a mantel style hood in a peninsula. Despite his other faults, my KD was at least willing to entertain my idea and after many drafts and revisions he actually made it happen. I couldn't be happier with it (well, unless it was done of course!). I'll try to post other pictures of it later--my office computer isn't cooperating right now.

Wow!! That granite looks just like mine, only mine was called Sienna Bordeaux. My perimeter granite has been installed on lightly stained knotty cherry cabinets and looks awesome. I am waiting on my island - they just measured today - and the cabinets there are very similar to yours so I am happy to see how pretty it looks! I agress about being in love with it - I was just staring at it the other day because it looks so pretty! I'll post pics once I get my island in (and I figure out how to post pics!)

Mine was installed today, I've taken to petting it as well. Everytime I do it, I hear the song Stroke me in my head....Oh well, it might be due to the exposy seam glue they used.....LOL

Oh, I am loving your granite....your whole kitchen, as a matter of fact! I love granite with lots of movement and interest. Your Typhoon Bordeaux ties in nicely with the rest of your kitchen elements. I am jealous!!!

That granite is a showstopper! I love the movement. I know you had earlier been concerned that the wine cab was a little too country, but with the granite in place, your eye goes straight to the stone and the wine cab blends better with the rest of the kitchen.

Paigeysmom: I was so excited to read your post. I just happened to have found MY PERFECT granite on the same day you posted this. Turns out, it's Typhoon Bordeaux as well! I just LOVE it! I knew it was THE ONE as soon as I saw it. My perimeter cabinets will be very similar in color to yours (cream with a glaze) with a cherry/distressed island. What ideas do you have for a backsplash? The granite is so awesome that I am thinking a fairly subdued backsplash would keep the focal point on the granite. Would love to know what you have in mind. Our addition construction starts 8/25 and I haven't even ordered a thing yet but I can already see myself petting and caressing it when it's installed! Thanks for sharing your photos--would love to see more when it's done.

Beth, I've been thinking about the backsplash today myself. We had a tile installer out today to measure for the backsplash tile. He wanted to know what I had in mind and I couldn't give him any indication because I really have no idea yet. I was also thinking something simple that won't detract from the granite. I have trouble picking out tile so hopefully I will get some inspiration soon. We are suddenly in the home stretch with the kitchen this week. The granite was installed, the trim carpenter is installing our base boards and trim because I didn't want to wait 2 months for my DH to finish it, and the missing cabinet end panels arrived and were installed today so the cabinet installer will hopefully finally be done tomorrow (I don't know how the 2 day installation extended to 4 then 10 then nearly 14 days--and I'm only counting the days he actually showed up!) I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel though.

I have the same granite and have not installed a backsplash yet because I can't decide what I like. Have you made a decision yet?

Looks great around the sink there... silgranit super single? Did you go in and specify the layout or did the granite guys just pick it? Either way looks great!

Thanks for all the compliments--almost 2 weeks later, I love it more every day and I still can't get used to the overall WOW factor every time I enter the room.

I selected the backsplash tile this week. It is Walker Zanger Gramercy Park 2x6 subway tile in bone china color. If I recall correctly it is the same tile as mamadadapaige's backsplash (you can do a search to see it in her photos). Apparently this tile is popular with mothers of little girls named Paige!

The sink is actually a Rohl Allia fireclay sink. I ordered the sink in white and only discovered it was actually bisque color when they were installing the granite. It turns out that the bisque is exactly the same color as our cabinets, so it was a happy mistake that looks intentional! The white probably would have looked out of place.

We didn't specify the layout of the granite. There is a seam down the middle of the sink that is matched so closely that I can't find it unless I feel for it. I love that they were able to include the long gray/mustard river on our 10 foot cabinet run along the half wall. My husband was hoping they would do that, but we didn't specify it. The granite fabricators did a wonderful job. In fact they are the only contractor we've worked with that we would hire again!

I am jealous! I live in the mountains of SW Virginia and I don't even know anyone with granite countertops!

I've never posted on a blog before but wanted to thank you for the BEAUTIFUL pics of your granite. We're about to order cabinets very similar to yours (antique white with the brown glaze) and thanks to your pics, I think I've sold my husband on Sienna/Typhoon Bordeaux. I was wondering if you still love it as much and if you have any updated pictures once the tile/backsplash was put in.

I just had sienna bordeaux countertops installed in my kitchen also, and I absolutely love it. I'm still unsure what to do for a backsplash. My cabinets and floor are a natural wood tone, which exactly matches the wood tones in the granite. I don't want the backsplash to take away from the beauty of the granite.
