I;m so glad you were able to get the sizing worked out! They do look lovely!
And I'm sorry the one type is not quite what you are looking for.

Stained glass is an art product and yes, will have variations, but I can still get glass that matches some of the glass I'd bought years ago at the local shops. The only trick is that when they make it in sheets that are 4+ feet wide, some of the colors you want may not be all over THAT sheet. So, did the company just sell you one sheet and cut all the panels from that one? If so, and you specifically requested those colors, they should have cut it from multiple sheets to give you those colors, which of course, will cost them more money to do so.. Where did you get your glass? The lighting company needs to stand behind this and get the glass company to get them the right glass. If that doesn't work, could you try a different company (looking at that, Uroboros glass in Portland, OR comes to mind).

I;m so sorry this is continuing to be a problem. But, I know your glass is out there! Keep trying!!

I don't think it detracts. I think it goes with the wonderful handmade vibe one gets from the cabinets and glass (I haven't been keeping up so hopefully that's not opposite of your kitchen goal). I love how in old stained glass windows, for example, there will usually be at least one chunk that has obviously been replaced or faded differently or never went in the first place.

Without being there and seeing how they relate to each other and to the lighting I can't say for sure, but are you sure it's as bad as it feels? It does look as though it is from the same stuff and I bet O'School is right about them just not cutting the "good" bits. It doesn't fight though, even without the blues and greens, but this would depend on where they are related to one another.

They are very pretty and I'm glad you didn't go with plain old frosted glass! But I guess you'd better demand you get the glass you wanted. If you specified the blues and greens, they shouldn't JUST come off a sheet of glass with blues and greens. They ought to actually HAVE some!

Can you post a photo that shows them altogether. I won't be very helpful either - my favourite piece is the one on the right in the first photo and the other two together compliment it. My monitor says there is some blue and a hint of green in it and it is just so fiery that it's beautiful. However, not if it isn't what your overall goal is.
It's like wild granite, if you cut a piece up, some pieces you will like and others you won't.

The issue is exacerbated because you put the two with the most blue together. You should try the one on the right of the double door with the one you think is too pink and orage. They look like a better color flow match, and then the single door one can stand alone looking like part of a whole. It's pretty easy to swap the doors. Shaker are the same and all you have to do is turn it upside down to fit. I'd try that for a day or two before I requested a replacement.

I know there will be variations, just like in the first 2, but the 3rd one is not like the others at all. I actually like it the best, but that is beside the point....
I'd make sure to speak to a boss or manager with the glass company and that they are looking at these exact pix when you are discussing it. In general, things may not be matching perfectly, but this is so far off that I think you deserve a replacement. They can sell the glass insert to someone else because there is nothing wrong with it and it is pretty.

The best solution is to cut the glass into small panes then join them back together, arranging the colors in a pleasing manner. I think someone may have tried similar.
Maybe you could view the glass before you buy, or select the sheets from the rack, like when people buy granite.

oldhousegal - thanks you've been a lifesaver for me! I called the company yesterday and I hope you don't mind but I used your words. The company is Mayda. They made the lights and ordered the glass to match for the inserts. I get the variation thing and the other 3 have variations but the colors are relatively the same. You can't see it in the pics but there are quite a few green tones.

GreenDesigns, I can't switch then because the cabs are 2 different sizes. The 2 on the fridge wall are much bigger than the ones on either side of the sink.

dianalo, I like it a lot too but it doesn't match the light. You're right it is very far off. I've left the cabs lights on and when People have been over, from friends to contractors, and without me saying anything, they have all commented on it. And it wasn't good comments.

Thanks Casey, I feel like a pig in a poke but the company is about 8 hours away. They did not have any large enough in stock and the sheets had to ordered from another country. So viewing and choosing was not an option. Since they made the lights they assured me they could match the glass with the blues and greens in the actual lights. My bad. Do you know the person who has broken then up and joined them together? that may be a option.

We had a similar problem with seeded glass. Some was lightly seeded and some was very heavy seeded. The problem was that on one cabinet, three panes were light and the fourth was heavy. we couldn't switch them around due to sizing also.

When we took the one back, they told us they order the glass in sheets, and it's not that big. They could not cut all of them out of one sheet, so some were from a different sheet and no two sheets were the same.

They showed us what they currently had in stock, and were able to get something that was a better match for the defective pane, but we ended up leaving the rest as is.

It's the same with yarn or any dyed items, each "run" or dye lot can be different as there is no way to get them exactly the same. Yours are way too different, and obviously from different sheets. Sometimes you feel like the workers aren't even looking at what they do - just lay the glass down and cut and move on to the next without paying any attention. How anyone would think someone would be OK with those four together, even given the "variation" issue. The other three have lots of variation between them, but it's also obvious they go together.

I would not accept what you have, that fourth even looks like it was cut going in a different direction than the other three, along with being a very different color.

I like it as-is, myself. A variety of colors is nice, the glass is a free-form, free-spirited look and I personally wouldn't feel it necessary to force them to all conform to a single color, direction, or texture.

When you visit the Met to view the Monets, you aren't fussed that one haystack is in pink tone and the other in blue tones.

I think we often have threads in which the poster chose an irregular, variable, handmade material and, after installation, worries that the finished product looks irregular, variable, and handmade. Think handmade tiles, wildly grained woods, heavily veined stones. I often think that we're just seeing the initial unfamiliarity with things that aren't the uniform, mechanical, mass-produced looks that we are used to in daily life, and I often think that the person would probably like the result if they gave it some time.

I would not accept that result either. "Variation" does not include failing to include any of the two colors you specified.

Do you have a local stained glass maker? You could consider having all the glass cut into squares, as Casey suggested, and reassembled using leading. It would match the light even more closely.

Do they still make kokomo art glass here in the us? That was where you would buy it in the old days (80's) if you needed it. I guess by now it could have all been moved off-shore!

macybaby, sorry about your glass issue, is it all resolved now? I don't mind the different direction. And I wouldn't mind if it was more orange with hints of greens and blues. But the pink swirlies throw the cab color off too. I've got nothing against pink, but it is an earth tone kitchen.

johnliu, I did know that these would be irregular and free spirited. That's why I went with them. I didn't want the uniform box look which is why I chose the main lighting fixtures. I just wish some of the colors in the other inserts were in this one to try to tie them together. i did not sign up for a sherbet insert.

That is a great idea marcolo and Casey. Thanks! I did find a local stained glass artist, not maker. Seraphim Stained glass who was GREAT when I received the inserts. One end on each of the inserts were cut 4/16's too wide. She's been in business 30 years and was happy for me to bring her the inserts with the cabs and recut. She did mention that the one did not look like it was from the same family.

Jeesh Casey, you are so cleaver! I'll give them a call and see if they have something that will blend with the light and the other 3 inserts. BTW the 80's are not the old days :)

Is it me or does the glass in the light not match the glass in the cabs? I'm thinking they are all way off - too many reds.

If you can't get that all resolved by this company, the only suggestion I would have is to go down to your friendly glass place that ground your edges and see if they could get a sheet (4 foot x 4 foot or what ever they cut them to there...) and cut it for you. At my local shop they don't charge but a pittance to cut it to size if you purchase the entire sheet, and they usually will give you a deal on that. They would also be able to find the right colors for you.

The more expensive ones are Uroboros (probably closest match to light) with the Kokomo, Spectrum and possibly Bullseye at better price points.
