Comments (3)3 years ago I bought 3 really cheap trees and a garden arch from a bargain store. The arch cost me $15 - it came with net lights and the trees cost about $10 each. Oh that's Australian dollars. I pulled the trees apart and wired the branches to the arch. I would have used discarded trees if I had found any but was really pleased with what my intial $45 outlay gave me. The arch goes in the opening between my dining and family rooms. This is the third year it has gone up and everyone who sees it loves it, they tell me it feels magical walking through it, like walking from the everyday world into Christmas. I only used the lower part of the tree, the top sections are still intact - the kids used them as mini trees, each child got their own and even the cat had her own tree....See MoreO Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree ....

Comments (2)Yeah, use a bulb checker for your type of lights. If your lights (as most pre-lit trees) are incandescent mini-lights, you may have had a few fail. As for replacing the tree, I would only do this if the tree itself no longer fits your needs. Frankly, before doing this, I would consider removing the pre-lit strings and just trimming the tree with replacement strings of longer-lasting LED lights....See MoreShow us your Christmas tree
Comments (37)My tree with son and daughter in law of one year. This was the day before their 1st anniversary and they dressed in clothes they had bought for an anniversary outing at a very snazzy restaurant and we took Christmas pictures for them to send in their Christmas cards. Must have taken 40 pictures, maybe more. My son helped me pick out the tree, my first live one in 4-5 years and it touched the ceiling. You know, when he was a kid and we were picking out trees, they were never big enough for them, even when they WERE tall enough to hit the ceiling. And now, he makes this 8 footer look fairly small. Ornaments are a mix of old, new, and in between and include ornaments the kids made in grade school, ornaments made by or given to me by friends and the kids (daughter as well as son) and other ornaments that have caught my eye over the years. I'm very sentimental and nostalgic an could never imagine buying all new ornaments and not hanging these. Some of my favorites are ones that my mom had hanging on her tree when I was a kid. We lost her in September of 2006 so those particular ornaments have an even more special place in my heart....See Morecamlan
