Question about Consignment Shops in the DFW Area

My granddaughter is in need of furniture for her apartment bedroom. At a minimum, she would like a headboard (no footboard), a dresser, and a nightstand. She has looked at many furniture places and all are to expensive for her pocket. She asked me if I know of any consignment shops I could recommend, and I do not.

Would any of you have recommendations for consignment shops in the DFW area of Texas? If you don't want to post here, you can just email me at my email in profile.

Has she checked out Craigs List?

Tell her to check out Weirs Outlet stores around the Metroplex -- might be a deal in their stores ....

I've been to lots of them in the area and I can tell you that you can't beat the price of the one teacats posted from Craigslist. The ones I've been to all are what I consider pricey.

I agree with teacats about Weirs. They have some GREAT deals. Check out their ad on their website on Saturday mornings. They usually have great buys but limited quantity so you have to get there early.

How about Redenta's in Dallas? Oram and Skillman. I've not been at the Dallas store but have shopped Arlington (and the late Colleyville store in its two locations)... organic, stuff that grows well in the area, knowledgeable gardeners....hmmm, may have to head that way! And while you're in Dallas, North Haven Gardens always has AWESOME plants! Love them too, I used to stop there when I took my Weim for his chemo treatments... he even got to flush out a bunny one time, made his day!

Well hey neighbors! Liz,I haven't used their design services yet but I hope too. I love the way Susan, the owner merchandises.I could use someone to come in and help me "freshen up" my stuff. They are a resale shop and they also sell new accessories. Hi Daisyadair! I also like that Antique Mall. Go into Consign and Design when you have a chance. They also happen to be very nice. PS- I love Sprouts too.

Thank you so much Jenn. My wife gets all the credit for the pool design. I just had few ideas and she pulled it all together. We started with a couple of designs from PBs but then we kept wanting to change this and that to see what it would look like. So we got our own software and my wife created at least 50 different versions of our pool. The final PB plan started from our plan and they made some recommendations based on their expertise of designing pools. Our tanning ledge will only have partial flagstone around the area that will be out of the water. We wanted the beach entry for our babies - 2 tiny toy poodles. There's no way they'd be jumping into a foot of water. Let's just hope they learn to use the beach entry. I'm looking most forward to the tanning ledge. It just seems like the best area to lounge around in. Glad to hear no birds have paid you a visit. We used to have a koi pond by our patio and birds would come. But then again, we used to have 4 trees in our backyard that have since been cleared. So yes, time will tell. Otherwise I'll have to find creative ways to scare away the birds.

Thank you, Voila, and you, too. Thank you, KSWL, we have a few very nice consignment stores. And yes, we love our Goodwill for plays and for costuming. The kids' schools often give extra credit if you wear a costume for a presentation so we are always going to good will to transform them into one thing or another. We take it home, wash it, wear it, wash it and donate it right back since it is usually not normal attire. I do still regret sometimes, re-donating this fabulous, dashing black velvet cape with a vivid red silk lining and frog closures. But I am sure the next person to find was as tickled as we were and it really had no use offstage. Thanks Holly-kay. I wondered what shape they are. Water? White wine? They seem to have a sort of spare tire. Thanks Violet, Fori, Breezy, Annie,Lynn, Nosoccer, Lucy, BBTSX, Maddie, Marcolo and Funky Javachik, My goodness, how do you know? I looked it up I think you are right. SueB, Yes, so much so. That's why I was so pleased when it occurred to me I need not to go the dreaded mall! Linelle, I must need tapping lessons. My crystal here at home is St Louis Appollo Gold. I was curious so I tried the Tibb method and i got nothing. I was a little worried I was going to flick them right off the counter. I have some Waterford bowls and they are downright musical. How amazing to have glasses a century plus old! WOw

We have been looking at craigslist. In fact, I sent her the exact link that teacats listed above. She doesn't want a four-poster or a footboard.

I had forgotten about Weirs, but will tell her.

Salvation Army,S. E. corner of Ave K at Spring Creek,Plano. Exceptional high quility at bargin prices. No junk,great staff eager to load your purchase. I believe they also offer delivery.
Craigslist require's thought and preparation. NO FEMALE should meet buyers/sellers alone and even when there's two,one remains in car,under wheel,parked to alow leaving by driving foward,cell phone and an agreement that looker will not remain indoors longer than xx minutes. Discussion and price negotions can take place outdoors in view of driver. I am 6'2" 220Lb male w/cc and I position dw and truck as suggested above. I have had my fair share of friends laugh at me for being so cautious. Doesn't bother me,"always prepared for the worst and hope for the best". Last and very important,driver must ask themself this question. If someone steps in front of the car refusing to alow me to leave,,,,can I run them over WITHOUT HESITATION?
