Anyone Paint Their Cabinets Swiss Coffee by Kelley Moore?

We are painting our ORANGE OAK kitchen cabinets white and are looking for that "right" color. Our countertops will be Carrara in the honed finish. My husband really likes swiss coffee by Kelley Moore and I am worried that it may be too "white". Does anyone have their kitchen painted in this color? I would love to see photos and hear about your experience. My kitchen is southeast facing and gets a lot of natural light in the late morning. I want a color that has a nice warm undertone, but that does not read too yellow. Please help! Our painter is wanting our color in 2 days!!! We are almost sold on Swiss Coffee, but I want to hear from you all first..

@kindertina did you get your kitchen done with KM Swiss Coffee? I'm planning to get that color done as well, but just scare it might be too white.

I did but I moved and it's not mine anymore. The POs had painted all the trim and builtins in the house that color and I liked it so went ahead and had the new cabinets done in it. (The cabinet maker said it was the most popular color in the painted cabs he did.)

Since it's off the shelf, you can pick up a small can, paint a chunk of plywood, and lean it up in your kitchen to see how it works. I think you'll like it.

I don't think you can tell the subtleties of whites on a computer screen, but it's a good color!

Hi Lilia. All the trim in my house is KM Swiss Coffee. I decided it was too white for my kitchen cabinets, which I ended up painting BM Cloud White. The only place my cabs come close to the Swiss Coffee trim is where baseboards from the living and dining rooms abut the edge of the cabinets.

BTW, my BM cabinet color was mixed by KM.

White is the hardest color unless you go for mixing white or Super White. When I was choosing interior trim white for my house I went through more samples than I can count and finally created my own (and was lucky enough to find a young man who could match it to mend what the kitchen has affected in other rooms--BTW, the named color for repainting one small wall in a very large room was better than color matched to the current paint color. I do limit the direct light in there, but BM also seems not to fade like other paints I've experienced). And knowing exactly the tint I wanted for my kitchen ceiling didn't stop me from making more than a dozen mixes until we got just the right white. Keep at it!! You'll know it when you have it. Maybe it's Cloud and you just need to make sure. Maybe it's Lily Sprite (that's made up--don't go looking for it). Samples and more samples, that's the key. And look at them under different lights. That is, sunshiny, overcast, twilight, incandescent, fluorescent, etc. White reflects the most light so the color of the light makes a really big difference.

Red, no matter what these colors look like in other people's kitchens, they will probably not look the same in your kitchen. There is no substitute for painting large poster boards with the colors you are considering and looking at them in situ- the light in your room and the ambient colors will have a huge affect on any color.

How much Chroma? = Its degree of colourulness is measured on a ratio scale. How much colour does it have, between an achromatic (truly neutral) white of the same Value (lightness) + a fully chromatic colour of the same value. Super White is very low in colourfulness. It has 0.21 Chroma. It’s so low, it will even pair with lots of other off-whites, which are more colourful. (higher Chroma) When pairing whites + off-whites you are looking for a minimum difference in hroma between them of at least 0.2. That way neither will look dingy or dirty next to the other. Used on the trim also it means you aren’t as limited with wall options down the line - it’s that neutral. Should you ever fancy a lighter,more neutral wall colour, Swiss Coffee on the trim could end up being darker and more colourful than the walls. Again this may limit your choices. Not wrong. Nor bad. But something you should know before choosing one over the other. Swiss Coffee is almost 3 x more colourful than Super White. It will limit your choices of worktop, being so noticeably colourful. especially if you haven‘t chosen the worktop first, rather than the paint to go with the selected worktop.

A wall color is easily changed . If you love Swiss Coffee, fine. Just change the sheen to satin for the cabinets. Why does it need to be Sherwin Williams?. I ( your painter makes more money, that's why) 'd use Ben Moore before SW any day of the week. A better paint by far. You painter is the TECH, not the designer. And for a good finish, the Swiss Coffee should be converted to a conversion varnish, sprayed in a booth, with all proper prep. OFF SITE, except for the cabinet boxes I can't advise on SW as I don't use it.

All the trim in my house is either KM or Behr Swiss Coffee (they're indistinguishable), and it is really white. It is a very neutral white and doesn't read yellow at all. I've been using it for trim for a while because it plays well with every color I've ever tried to pair it with. I think the undertones are warm but I don't think it will really read as warm because it is so light, especially if you get lots of natural light.

I have honed Carrara perimeter cabs and tried Swiss Coffee when looking for THE white for my new cabs. It was too white, and there was something else about it in my light I didn't like but I can't remember. Dingey?? I actually couldn't believe it was such a popular trim color.

I had a heck of a time finding a white warm enough not to look yellow with the gray Carrara background and yet not so white to appear stark. (Does your marble have a gray background also?) I ended up using BM Simply White. I'm sure you've seen my kitchen before so I'll spare you a photo. Good luck!

What did you end up doing? @breezygirl could you share your kitchen photo? I have all my walls painted in KM Swiss Coffee and am looking for the right white for my kitchen cabinets. Thinking of doing them the same color.

@SuperGrlJenny2020 I did do KM Swiss Coffee cabinetry with KM Swiss Coffee walls and I love the way it turned out. I liked it because I didn't have to do with clashing of whites, etc. You can see the project is not quite finished yet :)

It’s turned out nice! I love it. We ended up picking KM Swiss Coffee as well. The painters are sanding it now, I’ll post it when it’s done.

@supergrljenny2020 What a transformation! I love it too! Did you change the floors too or is it just the lighting and paint that brings out different tones? It all came together nicely.
