People generally paint their walls and trim more often than they refinish their wood floors. Painters are accustomed to working over finished surfaces and protecting them. I generally advise people to do a modified version of what greg mills recommended. Prep and prime the walls (maybe apply the first color coat), finish the floors then apply finish paint coats on the walls and trim.

The existing base cabinets will not be changed. A pantry cabinet will be removed and a new one installed in the same footprint but will open on the longer side rather than the front so accessibility is improved. The over fridge cabinets will be replaced with full depth cabinets and pull outs. A bank of new cabinets (Upper and lower with drawers) will be added opposite the fridge wall. flooring could extend under the new cabinets but I really do not need to replace any of the other cabinets. They are good quality and in good condition, but will be improved with pull outs/sliding shelves. No electrical needed for range hood, but I will note whether additional outlets are needed along existing cabinets and will have at least 2 added with the new cabinet run. i may do the master bathroom (raised vanity and toilet and replace sheet vinyl flooring with tile) before I move in, but the floor place is great! The guest bath and closets will be improved after I move in.

Thanks. Well, that is what I thought. I should have said we were not ready to buy "additional flooring". We reused the old carpet, and there is no way to match it. We have built 3 or 4 homes, and carpet was always last. However, I think I DO need to tell him what kind of flooring I will be using, right? If I put a laminate floor plank or vinyl floor plank on the floor, will the baseboard trim be installed lower than it would be with carpet? Or does it not matter? Another question... In a bedroom doorway, where should the carpet end? Inside the bedroom, outside the bedroom, or halfway in between (in the center of the door jamb)? Will the closed bedroom door cover the carpet? It looks like he planned to use an iron to attach the new carpet to the old carpet, maybe? The two different carpets will not match at all, which is why I told him I was not ready. So, will he have to iron on a small strip of old carpet? (A couple of inches wide?) Doesn't the edge need to be attached to a carpet tack strip and turned under? Or does it get finished differently with plank flooring? I doubt I will find carpet to match so I am leaning toward vinyl planks. Thanks.

What type of windows, full replacements or inserts? Full replacements, you do the windows first as the siding needs to be pulled back and the trim most likely removed. Inserts, fit in the existing frame and the frame gets wrapped with aluminum typically so it does not matter as much.
