Best wood for easy-upkeep floor

At first thought I would not consider wood because of fear of scratches. But am thinking about it now. Since I want it to be easy upkeep I've ruled out the prettiest of the dark, dark floors. So, thinking about mid-tones. What's easiest -- tung oil? really old rustic, or new, prefinished? What did you select and why? Are you happy with it?

We have the original medium -dark oak in the other rooms, so wood in the kitchen would have to match exactly or contrast. But, I remember that somewhere below the current tile and linoleum, the original floors were heart pine. Cannot use them but could put in a new pine floor . . . .
