Typhoon Bordeaux Granite (aka Key West Fantasy)
Comments (18)Mine is not done yet but this will give you another look at Typhoon Bordeaux. It is amazing to my how the same granite can look so different. Mine does not have a lot of the red in it, just a few spots here and there. Comments (59)I will post pictures tonight after I get home from work. I glanced at the counters this morning, and the caulk was drying clear but the thicker caulk was not clear yet. We used caulk in the bathroom recently that went on white and dried clear. There were parts of the dried caulk where it looked like you could see the rough edges through the caulk. I just have to look at it in more detail tonight. snookums - The granite fabricator is not the same company that is doing the floors. The floors were done by a sub through the GC. The granite fabricators were picked by the KD, and she's worked with them for several years. I am questioning her attention to detail as she said she had never really noticed before that granite could have chips in it like our island did. After I told her about ours she went home and discovered that she had them in the granite in her house and just never noticed. I am hoping that the wavy edge looks tolerable once the caulk is all dried. Some of the fabricators on GW seem to indicate that the wavy edges were normal and shouldn't be something I should complain about....See MoreWhat accent backsplash tiles did you use for Typhoon Bordeaux?
Comments (1)I used accent rows of Sonoma tile, in the tantrum line. They have some really nice colors that pick up the granite colors. My basic tiles are off white crackle subway. I'll post pictures when I figure out how to....See MoreTyphoon Bordeaux granite is in!!!
Comments (22)Hi robin, Which backsplash to pick..that is the question! My kitchen is similar to yours. I have Cherry Pecan cabinets with Typhoon Bordeaux counters. I've been to several tile places and have had some good advice from the Garden Web. My thread on the subject: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg1118100213573.html?22 So far I brought home three types of subway tile: 1. A beige-like brushed and polished marble Botticino (recommended by Bill from the Garden web). 2. A porcelain cream colored tile which faintly resembles marble without all of the inconsistencies and maintenance. 3. A bisquit (off white) crackle subway tile. Photos below: 1.beige-like brushed and polished marble Botticino (bottom four tiles on the black board) 2.porcelain cream colored tile (daytime photo) Same tile as above (porcelain), nightime photo (tile looks darker at night): 3.bisquit (off white) crackle (sideways because the board wouldn't fit underneath the cabinet). Disregard the darker tile: I like all three however my concern is that the marbles may be too busy looking once installed, and the crackle tile may look too plain and will not "marry" the cabinet with the counter. Atill undecided. What are you leaning towards for your kitchen? Sincerely, Melanie1121...See Morebostonpam
