Any one see the TV programs Where did you come from?
Comments (8)This program is of interest to anyone who is researching their own family. One can pick up pointers and techniques, many of which I found that my wife and I were already using. It is very much like being a dectective on a "cold case". The only problem I have is my envy of their having an almost unlimited travel budget and for hiring very highly trained technicans and their diagnostic equipment. The thrill of discovery is enjoyable and enlightening. If your ancestors were here when this country was being founded, you'll very liklely find a connection to Early US history. For example, my wife found that her ancestors were involved with the building of the Erie Canal; I found that I had a g-g-granfather who had served under Andrew Jackson and was later a Captain in the Black Hawk War. One of his sons was in the Mexican war, and before that, 4 brotheres were in the American Revolutionaey War with Britian....See MoreIs anyone else tired of seeing stainless steel gas ranges?
Comments (35)"I actually miss the chrome trim on newer appliances. I would like white fridges and ovens better if they had a nice metal handle instead of the plastic that yellows." Me, too! I'm glad our relatively new white fridge has white-painted metal handles, not white plastic handles, but I wish it had come with chrome handles. My much older white oven is only 2 years younger than my dad's white oven but I think it's aged better than my dad's for two reasons. One is that it has very little plastic on it and it's gray (to go with the chrome trim on the oven). The second reason is that the gray plastic has stayed the same color as opposed to the dingy yellow of the aged white plastic on my dad's oven....See MoreAnyone else a "The Big Bang Theory" (tv show) geek?
Comments (27)Add me to the "I love the Big Bang Theory" list! I am trying to replicate Dr. Sheldon Cooper's "man-bag" which he's often seen wearing. I want one just like it! They don't focus on it too often, other than the wide, cross-body strap. By pausing and backing up the videos, I've managed to figure out the front flap has three pleated pockets; one is full length, the other two are half-widths above it. I think they all fasten with side-release buckles. On each end there is an elasticized pocket/pouch with a top flap and another side-release buckle. I suppose they could hold water bottles. I've searched Google for "Dr. Cooper's man bag" and got many images, very few of which resembled the bag in the show. I even found a forum that was discussing it! The consensus there was the discontinued "Goorin" bag was made in the early 90s for Bloomingdales as a "Dad Bag," a diaper bag styled for fathers. If anyone has an idea of where I could get one of these bags, or a pattern to make it myself, it would make me so happy I'd probably blink my eyes and shout "Bazinga!" Comments (65)All right - Im close to bailing out here - I just want to retrieve some of my better posts and maybe me and Houzzz can duke it out over who "owns" them. They are merging everything - besides decorating there is now "Advice" and some other categories that seem to exist now. Perhaps I could deal with the cluttery chaotic format, but the rudeness of in your face pop-ups that don't take no for an answer are hard to deal with. I don't ordinarily act as diversity police, but I must say the "lets get started" screen with the 2 young perky blondes and the bald guy of indeterminant age does NOT represent, or appeal to my demographic!...See MoreAdrienne Gray
