I was surprised to see your fieldstone sample had a pennywise-like design or texture until realizing it was a reflection - d'oh! I vote both! If picking only one, though, I vote matching backsplash. Matching backsplash give vainities a finished look and, to me, make them look like they are better quality then without although Ive considered ones without because my first priority is overall style, but its definitely preferred. BUT I think if the tile is elsewhere in the bathroom, definitely would improve look to have tile with it and think the size of penny tile makes it an excellent choice as a tile for backsplash

I never thought about it that way, but I do like a pale backsplash. Joaniepoanie- I like the ann sacks tile too, but that backsplash definitely needs something plain on the counter! With so many walnut cabs combined with the tasty olive, your kitchen will be far from cold! It'll be warm and yummy. I'm with Sixtyohno in the is per is better camp. With the different cabs, I'd keep the counters the same for unity. My preference is always to differ the cabs OR the counters. Not both. Funny you've been getting so much rain.
