Comments (9)White is the hardest color unless you go for mixing white or Super White. When I was choosing interior trim white for my house I went through more samples than I can count and finally created my own (and was lucky enough to find a young man who could match it to mend what the kitchen has affected in other rooms--BTW, the named color for repainting one small wall in a very large room was better than color matched to the current paint color. I do limit the direct light in there, but BM also seems not to fade like other paints I've experienced). And knowing exactly the tint I wanted for my kitchen ceiling didn't stop me from making more than a dozen mixes until we got just the right white. Keep at it!! You'll know it when you have it. Maybe it's Cloud and you just need to make sure. Maybe it's Lily Sprite (that's made up--don't go looking for it). Samples and more samples, that's the key. And look at them under different lights. That is, sunshiny, overcast, twilight, incandescent, fluorescent, etc. White reflects the most light so the color of the light makes a really big difference....See Morepainting off-market corbels to match painted cabinets
Comments (2)This is something I do all the time. Matching the paint is simple. You can either buy a quart from the company (it's expensive and usually a lacquer that needs to be sprayed.) Or, get it color-matched (from a really good paint store, one where contractors go) if they don't give you the exact color. As for the finish, that will depend on what sheen is on your cabinets. You'll want either a matte or gloss. Since the corbels are set back, an exact match is not a deal killer. And, don't forget to prime first....See MoreNeed color help for cabinets please
Comments (9)Thanks for the responses. I've been busy all day prepping and priming. Just working on the cabinets near the refrigerator this weekend. The Edgecomb Gray that's on the walls does not look good so close to the granite so it won't work for the cabinets. On the walls the beige color of Edgecomb comes out but on a sample door it looked too gray, How about if I paint the soffit the same color as the cabinets? I'd rather not repaint the walls (I painted them about 6 months ago) and I like the color. I think my top choices are White Dove or White Wisp but I don't have samples of them yet. Planning on painting Monday and Tuesday so I will be forced to choose! If you have any other suggestions for samples to try please let me know! Artistsharonva: Yes, time is valuable, but I enjoy painting. I do most of the painting in my house and I like refinishing furniture. I have a few days off and my husband had plans so I had time to work on this (and it's been raining all weekend in NY). Yup, sink and dishwasher will be moved when I can do a full reno.
