Inside my summer kitchen.......(lots of pics)
Comments (8)If you like it, go for it. It is very cool I think. For me the upper walls might be a bit too busy though and so I would probably save one wall as is and strip the others. As far as the bottom half - hmmm, not white. I might first try cleaning a spot with denatured alcohol to see if it is a shellac finish. If it is, I would at least try to put on another coat of shellac. When I am working on stuff like this, I take one area and try my plan out on it to see if I like it, before I do the whole room. It is hard to tell how the room is going to look since you are taking down the ceiling too. I'd wait until everything that is going to be removed is gone, then step back as see what you think. I had many, many layers on my walls (no newspapers though) and saved pieces of each of the wallpapers. In one spot in the dining room, I saved the oldest wallpaper on the wall. It is faded and very fragile, but a pretty A&C pattern. I haven't sealed it because I am afraid of what that might do to it - but I probably should. It sounds like such a fun project for you. I would love to see the end result. Diane...See MoreHelp with finding a picture
Comments (5)Was it the bar area in jgopp's beautiful kitchen? If you'd like to see the whole kitchen go to: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg071631188429.html (You'll have to paste the web adress into your browser. Sorry, I'm sort of new at posting on gw and haven't taken the time to figure out how to include a direct link yet.) Alternatively, try googling "jgopp the finished kitchen, lots of pics inside, beer too!" to find the post. Jgopp did an amazing job on his/her kitchen....See MoreFinished...cozy soapstone kitchen! Comments (55)EATREALFOOD: Thanks for the comments. It is a nice space to have a cup of tea. I'm looking forward to the winter when I drink more of it. If we hadn't done the hardwood flooring, we would have gone with something in the slate family...I love all the warm colors in slate. My porch actually has PA blue stone for the floor in shades of lavendar, burgundy, gray, blue...with some rusting added to it. My only regret is that we do not have enough room in the dining area to put stools on the penninsula...the dining room is rather small. mgreenman: Thanks so much. Our kitchen is approximately 10' x 11'. I don't find the fridge behind me to be an issue whatsoever. In fact, we have a lot more room INSIDE the kitchen now; our penninsula is only 18" deep vs. standard 24" so that gave us some additional wiggle room as well....See MoreAnother Garden Web Inspired Finished Kitchen ( Lots of Pics)
Comments (51)LRy511, since you posted a picture of your beautiful backsplash with the smaller cabinet over the sink and glass shelf, I did a search for your kitchen. Your title picture I had printed since I love the running bond pattern you used which I have decided I am using also. I LOVE your soft white cabinets (love their style, color and hardware), your granite, your beautiful backsplash over your range, your sink set up, your faucet, your 20X 20 beautiful tiles, the way you got the beam out of the way, your wheat-back chairs (I have the same one but mine I think are in a honey maple color now), all the light you have in the kitchen with that bay window and all the ceiling lights, your wall color, the drawer storage, the pantry pull out drawers and your doggie! Thanks again for sharing. You did an amazing renovation that is beautiful as well as more functional....See Moregardenamy
