Farrow and Ball Pointing...a match?
Comments (6)You can get a sample pot of Pointing, then have it custom match at your local paint store. I'm going to F&B store this weekend to get paint. If you would like me to buy a sample pot for you, let me know. :-)...See MoreFarrow and Ball Paint Match
Comments (15)I kinda agree with Matt & Fun-C... At least in our store, computer-matching is the only option "time-wise". Our scanners usually get real close, & we do "human" corrections after that! * But to have someone fuss over a color for maybe an hour...isn't an option 90% of the time. * Many people think they'll be on their way in 5 minutes. AIN'T gonna happen with some matches!! * If we're busy, we have to ask them if it's OK to pick up their color later, so we can have time to "tweak" if necessary. * I'm very comfortable using the BM & SW C2-equivalents in our software library on the C2 tinter. VERY-CLOSE, if not dead-on matches every time I've had to make a SW or BM color into C2. * I've heard of some stores starting to CHARGE for paint-matching!!! Mainly because it can be tedious getting a color right. Also, it lessens the time store personnel can spend with other sales worth a lot more money than a $12 Quart! >>> I KNOW that was a controversial point there!!! I almost didn't put that in...I'm on the fence on this issue. >>> I s'pose it's like a car lot...where do you want your staff's attention most of the time? >>> I'd rather lose a $12 Quart...than someone waiting for advice on a $500 paint & access. sale. Thankfully, this rarely happens, but.... Faron...See MoreMatching Farrow and Ball paint, 86
Comments (5)You can find the color in California Paints too because they lease The Perfect Palette from Dunn-Edwards. F&B colors are difficult to match - don't know if you've come across that info yet. Whether it's because they are factory mixed or because of their proprietary pigments, it can be quite a challenge to duplicate the nuance of a F&B color. I order F&B from their website on a regular basis and have it drop shipped. It's very economical, doesn't cost as much as you'd think. Attached a picture of how the gallons are shipped/arrive. You can kind of see the little metal latches that secure the lid. One is right above the "a" and "l" in "Ball". And since Farrow & Ball is factory mixed, it doesn't really matter where you get it from. If you love the color, I'd suggest just ordering it and don't waste time/money trying to match it. Good luck!...See MoreFarrow and Ball paint: heard great reports re:quality, depth of color?
Comments (11)I absolutely loved Devine Color before it was sold out to Valspar and discontinued after SW bought Valspar. My favorite paint now is C2. The original Devine Color and C2 both unique pigments in their paint and the difference is that it has better color. I have tried to match some of my old favorites with BM or SW and get tinges of pink or green or blue that are not in the original paint color. I also do not like the BM Aura line of paint. Has full spectrum color per BM, but they have a limited number of colorants and the result was a lot of unwanted undertones, I also was bothered with left brush marks and it just did not work for me. I painted a white wall dark red (Red is one of the most transparent pigments) in my last home with Devine - covered white in one coat. I did a second coat just to make sure I didn't miss anything. C2 also uses generous amounts of artist grade pigments, no black and most of their colors have 8 or more pigments in the formula, instead of the 3 or 4 in most other paints. That said, although I can see a difference when painted side by side, once an entire room is painted and furniture placed and decorating done, I don't know if anyone else would ever notice the difference and I had to either go into debt or make some compromises while renovating my home. (Bought a used home and it needs end to end interior and exterior work). I am using BM Regal Select interior and SW Resilience Exterior. I was unable to get the "perfect" color match from BM - they tried, but it was just off - either turned purple or orange in the sunlight....See MoreRelated Professionals
