Farrow and Ball Pointing...a match?
Comments (5)You can get a sample pot of Pointing, then have it custom match at your local paint store. I'm going to F&B store this weekend to get paint. If you would like me to buy a sample pot for you, let me know. :-)...See MoreFarrow and Ball Paint Match
Comments (15)I kinda agree with Matt & Fun-C... At least in our store, computer-matching is the only option "time-wise". Our scanners usually get real close, & we do "human" corrections after that! * But to have someone fuss over a color for maybe an hour...isn't an option 90% of the time. * Many people think they'll be on their way in 5 minutes. AIN'T gonna happen with some matches!! * If we're busy, we have to ask them if it's OK to pick up their color later, so we can have time to "tweak" if necessary. * I'm very comfortable using the BM & SW C2-equivalents in our software library on the C2 tinter. VERY-CLOSE, if not dead-on matches every time I've had to make a SW or BM color into C2. * I've heard of some stores starting to CHARGE for paint-matching!!! Mainly because it can be tedious getting a color right. Also, it lessens the time store personnel can spend with other sales worth a lot more money than a $12 Quart! >>> I KNOW that was a controversial point there!!! I almost didn't put that in...I'm on the fence on this issue. >>> I s'pose it's like a car lot...where do you want your staff's attention most of the time? >>> I'd rather lose a $12 Quart...than someone waiting for advice on a $500 paint & access. sale. Thankfully, this rarely happens, but.... Faron...See MoreColor matching Farrow & Ball?
Comments (9)I think it may depend on the color. I have two rooms painted in F&B right now. One of them in "White Tie" is just a very beautiful cream. Not particularly complex at all and I can see that being matched rather easily. The other one though "Off White" is incredibly complex. It's not full spectrum, but it sure acts like it is. It has these beautiful undertones of gray to silver to sage to taupe at different times of day. This was completely unexpected and only started happening once all the walls were painted. It's just beautiful. I don't see how that could ever be color matched. Same dealio in son's room. The "Chinese Blue" trim is beautiful, but a true, no doubt about it BLUE. The "Cooking Apple Green" different story. Again, while much less complex than that off white, it's definitely one that would be very difficult to match. That doesn't help much does it. I can tell you that if you order F&B from Cox Paint, I usually have my paint in about three to five days. I believe they also have faster shipping options. I have a local vendor that sells F&B but still use Cox Paints on occasion, mostly to save a time and energy when I'm not in a particular hurry. I've been very pleased with them. Good luck! Personally, I think you should go with the real deal. But P&L has such BEAUTIFUL colors too, I don't see how you can go wrong either way. Good luck! Comments (5)Hi!!! Good to "see" you. My first inclination is to go lighter in the cove, since by its nature a cove will be a little bit darker anyway. I love love all of your colors. I have a Charleston grey on a chandelier (metal drum shade). I know ive told this story before, but it bears repeating if cost is an issue. Are you positive that in your setting and on your walls, you will be unhappy with anything other than FnB? In my old house, I had Ringgold FnB in my MBR. When I was putting it on the market, i decided to continue that color into the adjoining MBR and dressing room. The dressing room had been converted by a PO from a bedroom, and so other than its position in the house, the size of the room and number of windows was identical to the MBR iself. This made it a good test case. Since it was just for resale, when I took down the wallpaper in the dressing room i did not buy FNB, I just matched the color and used cheaper paint (dont even know what kind the guy used). Call me savage, unsophisticated, call me daff. I did not really see a big difference between my MBR in true FnB Ringgold and my dressing room in faux FnB Ringgold. Will you? You have the $7 FnB sample pots already. Have your paint store mix a quart of Charleston Grey from BM. Put them side by side on the wall and you decide if the FnB premium is worth it. Don't just listen to all the ideas as to why FnB is supposed to be better. See if it really holds true for you. PS I want pictures!...See Morebudge1
