Beautiful. If my kitchen had been larger, I would not have had any upper cabinets. I really like how you only have them down on that far end. Also, had I known about Ikea before I did my kitchen, I would not have built my own cabinets!

Nice! I love the glass-front cabs in the corner to keep it from getting too dark. I have to admit I almost didn't look at the cabinets because I was totally distracted by the lights. I LOVE them!

Love it! I just love the high contrast of dark cabinets and white counter. I have the same small pendants over my peninsula- they look great in your kitchen.

From these pics it looked like you used the Nexus brown/black cabinets. Any issues that you came across?

I've been thinking of placing some of the frosted ones up too (forgot the name). How durable do they seem to be compared to the other doors? Could you post a pic of how transparent they are?

Would really appreciate a straight on pic of your range too.

Since my layout is even very similar to yours, what aisle widths did you end up with (counter to counter)?

Gosh, thanks for all your kind words! I've only got one other picture. I'll have to take some more and will try to get one of the frosted one later this week. I'll include measurements then too.

Here are the details...

Cabinets: Ikea brown black. So far no issues. Very sturdy feeling. Love the soft close drawers! The uppers are nice and durable. We don't have any pulls on them yet because we haven't found anything we like so far. Definitely need some sort of pull.

Countertops: Caesarstone Nougat.

Sink: Kohler Vault

Pendant lights: Elk Anastasia collection

Dining room light: Overstock

Range: KitchenAid dual fuel with double ovens. LOVE the range so far!

Hood: Arietta Dekor. A bargain at $99 on clearance at Home Depot

Fridge: General Electric just regular depth.

Dishwasher: Frigidaire

The over the fridge cabinet is a little deeper then the glass front cabinets but not as deep as the fridge. We have a pantry across the aisle so we didn't need the storage. We mainly put it in to balance the back wall out.

What a bargain on the vent!!! How long ago to you get it? I suppose it was a special order return. I've always been scared of those but didn't sound like you had any problems. That is the exact design we were looking for too.

We were looking at back painted glass as a backsplash for the range, but I like how you extended it to your ceiling. How costly was that? How was it installed?

We picked up the hood about a year ago. The box wasn't opened and they still carry that brand so I'm not sure why it was so cheap.

The backsplash was installed with heavy duty adhesive and a couple temporary screws that we used to hold it against the wall until the adhesive dried.

mary, your kitchen is beautiful. I don't even lean toward contemporary finishes, but I would have your kitchen in a heartbeat. Having that spacious and light wall with no uppers is what really attracts me to it. My friend has the same stove and loves it.

Do you have the 49" blind corner cabinet? If so, how large is the cabinet to the left of your stove? I'm going to have a similar configuration with a narrow cabinet between the stove and the corner and would love to know how yours works for you.

The corner is a 37" corner cabinet and the range sits next to it. So far it's been working out well for us. I have a two tier lazy Susan and I keep bowls in thw top and small appliances in the bottom. It is not a problem to get things out of the corner.

Very sleek! Can you please share the name of your paint color? Looks like a light gray with some green undertones?

The paint is Valspars full spectrum paint in an Allen and Roth color called Logan Square. It reads cool in sunlight but warmer in artificial light.

I tried to look at the Ikea site not long ago and found it very confusing. Did you have to put veneers on the cabinet frames?

William, we did have some areas on the edges where the birch cabinet showed through. Believe it or not, we used black electrical tape to cover it. I saw that tip posted on the ikeafans website by an ikea installer. We thought we'd try that and if it doesn't work we'll go the traditional route with the iron on edge.
