I am going through a similar process in trying to reach a decision with appliances. I feel the same way, so much $,want to get the best bang for my buck. I researched and spoke to many people and here is what I am doing. dishwasher: Miele oven : Monogram cooktop: Monogram. I also seriously considered the dacor because of the sandblasted finish under the burners which I liked for practicality of cleanup but opted against it because I did not like the triangular knobs. I think they are awkard to use. Other factors: The Monogram (30") has 18,000 btu vs. Dacor's 15,000 btu and I believe all 4 burners on the Monogram go down to simmer as opposed to 1 burner on the Dacor. Good luck with your choices!

Is this a starter home or a higher end home? What do other kitchens in your neighborhood look like? This board and HGTV aside, if it's a small entry level home most buyers are happy with newish appliances that work, and a quick search online should net you a bisque microwave and dishwasher. If you believe an upgrade is needed in your market and you're going to all the expense of new cabinets and granite countertops, then don't let dated-looking or mismatched appliances put the brakes on a sale. I don't think all matching appliances are necessary but that particular combo (bisque range & fridge, with stainless dw & micro) IS a little odd. You are better off buying all stainless now than "negotiating with buyers if they want new stove/frig" because they may not make an offer at all if their first reaction isn't positive. You can always sell that cream colored oven and recoup some cash.

I was curious because the Tropic Brown in your pic looks very similar to the granite we first picked out and ordered (forget the name but it wasn't Tropic Brown), but then they told us it was no longer available. When DH first saw it, he said, "Now THAT'S granite!" It just looked more granite-y, if that makes sense. While I love all the granites, including the swirly ones and the ones with movement, I imagine our original pick would've been a lot more impervious to absorption. But I haven't had any problem with the SC Gold and I love it too. I guess it's not a true granite, maybe a gneiss or something.

I have an artist friend who has a black range, white microwave, stainless fridge. Her place looks great. If you're creative, you can pull it off. I went with all white appliances in my off-white kitchen. I think stainless looks cold & industrial and didn't want it in my warm, comfortable home. It's all according to your taste.
