Look for options for de-construction which is then given to a qualified 501C. You benefit from a tax deduction as well as your items (wood and all) go to good use vs. landfill.

We sold ours on Craigslist. The purchaser dismantled it himself.

craigslist for the appliances/cabinets, H4M for everything else.

Check with your local Habitat---ours has a new kitchen deconstruction program where they'll come demo your existing kitchen and remove anything salvageable. Not only is it much cheaper than demo would be otherwise since they haul everything away and leave it clean and ready for your contractor, but they also give you a tax write-off for whatever they can salvage. I think they are piloting this in several markets.

(I should add that the deconstruction is actually done by The Reuse People----where we are they're affiliated with Habitat ReStore, but not sure that's true everywhere!)

We bought our cabinets from a reuse/salvage company that pulled them from someone else's home when they remodeled. H4H and craigslist. If none of that pans out, what about Free Cycle? I don't know if they would let you post that, but I don't see why not?

Our appliances are going on craigslist. We reused most of our cabs and countertops by putting them in our landry room and garage. I still laugh when I see my previous butler pantry glass front cabs in my garage - we are SO high-end LOL! Seriuosly though this was one of the highlights of the remodel for my husband.

@gb85---that makes me smile, since in our basement are the cabinets that were taken out of our kitchen during its *last* remodel---in 1939! They are old glass cabinets c. 1915, but some previous owner nailed jar lids onto them for hanging storage and they've clearly been used by mice over the years, so it's all a little incongruous.... :)

Generally Habitat and similar salvage groups only want unit cabinets with backs. That is, the kind made as boxes like the current norm, rather than anything framed in place with only a partial back.

Be careful selling things through Craigslist or Freecycle if the people are coming to your house. Accept cash only, on the spot, if you're selling rather than giving, and meet first in a public space. Never have them come to your house when you're there alone. Unfortunately, there are scammers out there, as well as theives who want to scope out future construction sites to rob.

I found there were takers for almost everything I had. Habitat took the cabinets there were in good shape, the cooktop, my beloved not so old hood, and the window blinds. My workmen asked for (and received) a lot of other things including the old dishwasher and fridge. The only thing there was no taker for was the awful old oven. I was going to send four large tins of wrong color paint to a place that coordinates wrong paint for charity, but then someone I knew who was seriously low of funds needed paint for her awful kitchen and liked the colors (off white and greeny sage), which weren't bad--just didn't match.
