Need Backsplash Ideas

About to start my remodel and I know the back splash is last on the list, but I would love pictures to help inspire me! Our cabinets are a maple color (think warm brown), the granite is called Tiberious (browns, beige)... Any ideas would help! My contractor says I should pick soon, but I think I have to wait til everything is installed...

HELP!!

How would you classify your style? What I mean is, contemporary, traditional, more rustic... that kind of thing.

ahhh..good question! Definitely more modern but not super contemporary...if that makes any sense!! thanks!

Thanks for the replies! Bevangel, my wife and I are too afraid of black. but we are open to a grey color, and leaning toward the 45/herringbone pattern. I think we will get some different samples and put them up and get some pictures. Thanks Autumn, i'll try the kitchen forum. I like your screen-shot, but I hate using Photobucket. I was hoping there was a way to post multiple pictures from my laptop without using PB. (I love your house, the snow I can do without, but it looks lovely!) We are definitely going to add knobs to the upper doors, so I agree with you Annie and dekeoboe, thank you. And Annie, I have followed your posts here since I joined, I love your home as well! Momto3, our granite is called Juparana Delicatus. We looked at a LOT of granite and really fell in love with these slabs...even if it meant going over budget. It looked wild at the yard, but on the counters it isn't 'loud' at all. I will look into the casamood's vetro bianco lux you suggested.

This is where Oceanside sells odd lots online. They have 217 tiles in Cane Iridescent in a 3 x 6 tile. It is in a different shape, called "lune" (probably because its profile resembles a crescent moon). The center of each tile pillows out from the wall, making a ridged pattern. These tiles are half price, $1.49 each. Since they are not even offered in a 3 x 6 size, they must have been a special order. They also have 125 of 3 x 9 flat cane iridescent tiles for $3.49 each (reg $8). If you like tiny half-inch mosaics, they have 45 sheets of a color called "canary" that looks a golden pearl color for $19.99 per 12.75" sheet. There are sheets of Cane in 1 x 1 mosaics in iridescent, non-iridescent, and matte for $17.99 sq ft, too. Here is a link that might be useful: click on glass field at top and filter

I think seamed would be OK if they did the big section from hood to range as one entire piece and then the 2 lower pieces below the cabinets as individual sections . In fact you could emphasize that by having the range backslash section a different color from the other 2. Bring your little splash of color there.

The Taj is the star. Go back to the drawing board for a plain and simple tile, and DON'T SELECT IT until your Taj is installed. Don't try to make two stars. No.n.e of your selections to now.

FWIW, we had a good friend/designer/builder consult on our design. She said that, with few exceptions, she always chose her backsplash after cabinets and counertops were in. Too many variables in light and dimension, and no real reason it couldn't be done that way. Gather your options, but don't let 'em pressure you!

Modern as in 1970s or modern as in updated?
I think the terms can get confusing. Contemporary as in
updated or ultra sleek.... I think I am confusing myself.

What are your floors? What is your favorite color?
Do you like matte, shiny, colorful or simple?
Do you like streamlined or lots of crazy movement?
