We really need to know what your cabs and floors are, particularly your cabs. And you can combine both ideas and get glass subway tiles.

Sorry, I forgot to add details of my kitchen. My cabinets are teak wood in a natural stain and my floor is wood in a natural stain. I'm having second thoughts on both the subway tile and the glass tiles. I looked at the backsplash slideshow on this site and like the look of 4" tiles in tumbled marble on the diagonal, however I'll probably change my mind tomorrow. I'd love any and all suggestions!!

A restaurant near me has bordeaux counters and a brick backsplash and terra cotta floors. Looks awesome. A brick look elongated tile without too much variation in a color that matches the deep tones in your granite and cabinets would be awesome with it. I wouldn't use tumbled marble with it.

elliepd, did you ever decide on a backsplash? I'd love to see your granite once it's installed. It does look more colorful and has more movement than the Sienna we've looked at.

The granite should be in, finally, this week. I'll post a picture as soon as it's in.
