First off, that granite is gorgeous! I would make a kitchen work around it. With the rose and brown colors, it may be tricky to find the right grays (you mentioned "cool", but the granite kind of runs "warm" in its coloring. Tricky, but not impossible to get the cool gray feel you are after. Any cabinet or paint samples to put near the granite? This could be a fun challenge for you.

That's gorgeous...but it does read warm. Still, I agree that there is no reason that you can't achieve a cool vibe in your space.

That's so beautiful, and I agree with the others that you can find a gray that will work well. In fact I think a lot of medium grays would be beautiful with that slab!

If you are picking a custom painted cabinet then absolutely. Look at the shades of grey by Benjamin Moore. There are lots of greys with brown undertones.

I'm not great on the cool/warm distinction - but I automatically tend toward cool grays (which I believe have more blue/violet whereas warm have more yellow/green). I have found that, for me, the grays can be somewhat difficult to work with in my head. But, once I put them next to each other if they don't work it is obvious. If you can take some paint samples or something to look at with your quartz that would be the best and the answer should be clear.

Although I'm not a warm/cool expert, I do agree with the others that the quartz tends toward warm - except the color that is predominant in the lower right quadrant. The predominant color in that, which is also in the rest of the slab, looks more cool/silver to me and I would think you could try to work with that color. I switched from a very cool granite to a much warmer one, but it still works very well with my cool gray floor. So you can mix things up some.

Agreed that that spot might not be in the part used, but it looks fine there, doesn't it? I wouldn't say that those shades don't harmonize with the rest of it.

It's perfectly fine to mix grey with taupe and even a bit of rusty pink like the stone has in it's mix. The stone does it successfully, so the human should be able to as well as long as you don't choose all cool with this the only warm element. A mix of warm and cool is far more dynamic and visually interesting than coloring between the lines from just one half of the crayon box.

Though the arrow points to the biggest patch of cool grey on the stone, bits of that color appear in the grain on most of the slab so I think it would work fine. A warm/cool kitchen can be very comfortable and inviting.

In our case, we have a mostly cool toned quartzite with natural cherry cabinets. The granite has a very small amount of brown flecks that pick up the brown of the cherry.

What a lovely stone.... I think a warmer gray would work as well as the one pointed out on the slab. In fact, I think those tones there are as much of a warm gray as a cool taupe/brown, aren't they? I see a lot of paints labeled in the gray family with these tones these days, anyway.

Just painted my kitchen in BM Nimbus. It is a warm grey if that's possible. I just did a post today. You can check it out. THe color doesn't read that great on the computer. I think it would look really pretty. In certain light (morning, afternoon, night time indoor light, etc.) it can be anywhere from lavender, grey to tan. I am finding that paint color is so transforming...

That granite is gorgeous! Looks nice with the grey but I'm inclined to say that a more taupe-y brown grey that's a bit darker would really set this granite off beautifully.

Exactly what writersblock said. The stone has a mixture of cool (white, pale gray) and warm (taupe, rose) tones. I personally love mixing cool and warm and find it adds some depth to a space. I think selecting a cool gray that either matches or corresponds well to the light cool gray tone in the stone would work very well. That stone is gorgeous!
