I have medium cabs, not as dark as yours, with black granite and black backsplash. I also have a black island. We have 9 foot ceilings and a lot of natural light in this space, so we don't feel that it is too dark. I have to add that while there are so many "shiny black granite is awful" comments, I LOVE mine! I don't notice dust and I don't notice fingerprints. I wipe it with a wet cloth and follow with a microfiber cloth and it looks great! Mine is polished absolute black, and while I love the green slab on my island, my AB is my favorite!

I think I have the same cabinets as Elaine posted above and I have black galaxy granite countertops and backsplash. I love it! However, if I had your cabinets, which are gorgeous, I think I'd want lighter countertops. I love the combination you posted!

I vote for the Bianco Romano that would look great with Cherry Cabinets!

If your bianco antico sample is a good representative of the slab, then I'd grab that and go for it. It is very pretty.

I'd also agree with Susan that bianco will look better with the cabinet finish you selected.

I think bianco antico would look really pretty. I know the cabinets in the picture are much darker than yours (black), but you get the idea:

If I remember correctly Bianco Ramano has bits of red flecking in it, which would compliment your cabs I am sure.

Not sure if this helps, but we have Bianco Antico with a mahogany island top. Maybe you can sorta visualize the colors together then?

I vote for the lighter countertops. I really like the picture Annsch posted with the matching slab countertops and backsplash.

You won't believe it but after I posted this thread yesterday both my laptops got a virus. I have two virus protections on them but they didn't catch it. So I have been off the computer for over 24 hours. I missed so much!

Now for the granite sage... we didn't make a decision.

Here is another you won't believe but... the bianco romano is all gone. Why? They sent it all back to the supplier. There were alot of slabs. Apparently there were quality issues. It was breaking apart during fabrication or breaking apart after being installed. They don't know when they will be getting more.

So... Bianco antico aka white diamond is still in the running. The sample we have does not show very well. The slab as a whole looks much better. Some black, minor orange/red dots. I don't know why but BA always looks better in photos of it installed. Still in the running.

Black Labrador and Cambrian Black. Both look good but are different. Cambrian is much more expensive. Still in the running.

Now what is really thowing us off is... we saw Super White Quartzite. I was surprized how much DH likes it. It is expensive. We are just not sure. Concerned its too white. What would we do for a backsplash? How would this look with black appliances?

DH will now consider doing a different stone on the island.

So what to do now?

Have you seen Bianco Antico with your color cabinets? All the kitchens I have seen are usually cream or white with BA.
Have you looked at Giallo Ornamental, but the light version?

I found this thread because I'm thinking to buy Cherry Bordeaux cabinets from Conestoga. Is that where you purchased yours?

Do you have an updated photo? trying to get an idea of what they will look like. The cabinet make will be sending me a small piece of cherry stained, but seeing it as a big picture would work too.

We LOVE Super White Quartzite and almost purchased it for our master bathroom remodel with dark cabinets as it was gorgeous. It was surprisingly a remnant that fit our space (72"x23") so it wasn't as expensive as usual; however, I didn't have much time to research and from my initial search, it seemed the upkeep was much more difficult from granite. Now that I have read more, it doesn't appear to be any more difficult to maintain than granite. I guess it really depends on your budget and color preference. I prefer lighter vs. darker granite when you have a darker cabinet.

I still have posted a reveal even though the kitchen has been done over a year.

Here is a photos unfortunately the kitchen was still not finished when it was taken. The cabinets are Shenadoah from Lowes. We are happy with how everything turned out.

I have more photos of the granite if that would help. Just let me know.
