White Lexus, Kashmir White or Bianco Romano - Opinions Please

So, we went shopping yesterday and I think we have narrowed it down to these 3. I can't find anything on White Lexus anywhere - so I think it must go by a different name - but it looked very similar to the Kashmir White.

Bianco Romano is obviously beautiful, and has more movement, but we like both, and honestly, are trying to keep a low(er) budget as much as possible. We need about 70 sq. feet of grantite (kitchen, dining room and 2 level peninsula).

So, any info or opinions on White Lexus? Is Bianco Romano worth the $700 - $1000 difference?

Another question - the WL is supposed to be more susceptible to stains than the BR, so the supplier / fabricator recommended we put on a special 'lifetime' sealer during the process - cost $350. We wouldn't (according to her) need that with the BR.

We have 2 young kids, and I can't promise that any of us will be 'gentle' on the granite, though I certainly plan to clean up spills as quickly as possible.

We are in a Townhouse that may or may not be our forever house. I don't think we would like at WL, and constantly think "oh, it's not BR" - but I wanted to get any opinions on the stone. (as I said, it's very similar to Kashmir White)

All that said, any advice? I can also tell you - that without knowing the stones we had narrowed down too -our KD suggested, based on our discussions and budgets, that we spend the $800 on a counter-depth fridge than the counters (which we did) - so I am leaning towards WL, but could probably be swayed to BR with good advice ;)

Could you just do the Kashmir White? If the Lexus looks like it and Bianco Romano is too expensive how much is the KW? The White Lexus looks sort of like Ivory Silk at least from the photo I saw online. I have the ivory silk and it's holding up fine. It does have a lot of mica and other quartz looking components in it. Maybe you could get a better deal on the Bianco Romano from a different supplier and just go with it if all else fails. Although beautiful, I think Kashmir White might not be as durable a Bianco Romano. It might be worth the extra money to get the Bianco.

Seeing some hope - We both liked the Typhoon Bordeaux ! it was in light tones with some brown pattern on it .. Any feedback on this stone ? It was surprising to see the color/pattern difference between different lots of the same stone .. There was this lot, which had a lot of Yellow in it .. and a very busy pattern. Any idea how expensive this stone is ? Keeping my fingers crossed as our fabricator is going to call us with a price quote .. Oh .. one more thing - the warehouse had 2 finish of of this stone, one polished ... and one brushed ... we chose the brushed finish .. Hope it is not a blunder .. I would really appreciate if any of you have this finish, send me your responses, on your choice & maintenance aspects Will keep you updated ... till then you all have a wonderful week ahead :-)

Could be a gender thing...? :-) After our white cabinets were installed, I had a lighter paint color selected for the walls (was Behr Polished, now it's Behr Silver Moon, which is a few shades darker). Prior to repainting, when my husband first stepped into the room and saw the white cabinets with the semi-white-looking walls, his response was, "This is too much like '2001: A Space Odyssey' and it's too bright. Hurts my eyes." Meanwhile I'm thinking how fresh and light everything looks. We compromised by going slightly darker with the wall paint but you better believe I wasn't budging on my choice for Kashmir White counters. He wanted Azul Platino. Back during the initial planning stages, he donned the hat of Captain Obvious by saying, "It's really white" whenever I showed him pictures of white kitchens I admired. It got slightly annoying too. Most important, I think the Bianco Romano is going to look gorgeous if that is what you end up going with!

We are redoing our kitchen and are putting in a wenge black/brown cabinet on cherry wood. The cabinets look almost all black, but there are hints of brown running through it. Our kitchen island is going to be different, a black and lighter brown wood horizontal stripe. Our floor is a 18x18 inch tile that looks like slate with greys, browns, etc. I am looking for a lighter counter (white/beige based) to lighten the kitchen up. I want something that won't show fingerprints, food, etc, but not too patterned because of the island (don't want it to look too busy). The granites that I like are Andromeda White, Bianca Romano, and Kashmire White. What are the main diffences of these three granites as you see them? Is there one that you would recommend? Shoot...I've looked the best I can, but does anyone else remember a kitchen with Kashmir White that I'm pretty sure was honed...It had a few red Asian accessories I think. I've looked through 'categories' on the FKB but couldn't find it. Kitokeefe mentioned on the white granite thread that she has honed KW, but I can't find any photos of her kitchen either. Jbrodie, honed or satin-finish Kashmir White was my dream counter for my island, but the $2300 bid brought it to an end. (I think that was even for polished, which was probably less expensive, since more readily available.) Anyway, in my research I was convinced that it could stand up to my family after being properly sealed. If it didn't stay pristine, I was prepared to deal with a bit of 'patina' over time. Many people have honed marble (now even higher on my dream counter scale) and it seems to be fine...and most granites should be tougher and less absorbant than the marble. Try getting a sample to do your own stain testing. Try one bare, and one sealed...or try a few different sealers. I think the stone would take more of a beating than butcherblock...Will tolerate heat and won't dent as easily. It also depends on the wood species and how you plan to finish the butcherblock. We ended up with wood on our island and finished it with several coats of Waterlox for water resistance since we won't be cutting on ours. The finish is quite durable and protective...but not heat resistant, and we used fir, so the wood itself isn't very hard. There are dents already, but we expected them.

We prefer the White Lexus to Kashmir White - so really, it is down to White Lexus or Bianco Romano. I included the KW since I couldn't find anything else on WL, and wanted to give an idea of what it looks like.

While I agree BR is more stain resistant than WL, I'm wondering if the lifetime sealer would take care of the issue for us?

I am really leaning towards the WL - I think we will appreciate the cost savings of that more than we'll appreciate the movement of BR - but looking for anyone else with experience with it or opinions.

And any input on having the fabricator put on the lifetime sealer?

Yes, we have the upgraded sealer but it was free with a promotion. I bought a cleaner that says it's a cleaner sealer so I use that to clean it with and so far so good. I've had spaghetti sauce, coffee, all sorts of stuff and so far no stains. I was thinking maybe you could get them to throw in that sealer for you. I don't know if this is true for your fabricator or not but they usually put some kind of sealer on and then want extra for the lifetime or in our case it was called a 15 year sealer. It's a money making thing for them. You could do it yourself for less. The sealers are available online. I don't think I would let that deter you too much but that is only in my opinion!!! I have Carrera in an upstairs bath and that is the one that is really worrying me! It's so pretty right now and I didn't put the upgraded sealer on it and have yet to do the sealer myself. It was helpful to read on GW that the sealer did not change the color and that was what I was afraid of. Good luck with your decision!! It's hard...
