New refrigerator--it sticks out too far!
Comments (25)I was lucky enough to be able to get my FD refrigerator recessed - of course it took the cabinet installer two attempts becuase he forgot the first time and the 2nd time didn't do it deep enough, but that's a different story. grrr.... Sorry your new Samsung isn't as sweet as you had hoped! One option - get those cool spice magnets (see link). I saw this on a friend's FD fridge and didn't even notice how much it stuck out. Talk about taking advantage of space. The magnets are much cheaper than a CD unit, that's for sure. But if you can't handle it, bite the bullet & get the CD model. Having lived in the Bay Area for 12 years, I know prospective buyers will apprecitae the look of a CD model. I had to bite the bullet with my DW this week (spending $500 more for an upgraded model) because I really really wanted a super quiet model. This kitchen stuff sure can be costly! Good luck. Here is a link that might be useful: spice magnets to...See MoreHow far does your barstools stick out?
Comments (3)I have the recommended minimum overhang of 15" (for counter-height seating) and my stools stick out another 3" or so...b/c they have curved backs. What is the distance b/w the edge of your counter overhang and the table in the Breakfast Nook? Is it at least 60"? If so, you should be fine even when you factor back in the 3" that you did not include in your overhang. (Even when you skimp on overhang, people sitting there will take up the same amount of room as if you had the recommended minimum of 15"...assuming your seating is counter-height.) We have 48" or so and it's too little when someone is sitting in one or the other places (it's even worse when people are seated at both places!). [It was a mistake on our part...we didn't move the DR chandelier to center it in the new DR width that was reduced by a foot or so b/c of the seating overhang...which in turn was caused by mis-measurements by my KD.]...See Morestove sticking out too far?
Comments (2)Your countertops look like a standard depth. And that's most likely what the range is made to fit. But range measurements are usually from the back of the unit to the very front of the oven handle. Oven doors typically have to be forward of the plane of the adjacent lower cabinets. Otherwise, hot air escaping from the oven would scorch the cabinets. ~4½" doesn't sound wildly off from what I would normally expect. So, I think this could be right. Look at it in a showroom....See MoreGE Cafe Dishwasher Sticks Out Too Far
Comments (11)@trudyandstephen did you ever get this installed flush? We just had a cafe dishwasher installed and it is flush with the cabinets and we are having issues with condensation under our countertops above the dishwasher. The water drips down the sides of the cabinets on each side of the dishwasher and then pools on the floor under the corners. We just had a repair person visit, and his suggestion is to pull the dishwasher out a couple inches so that the top vent is no longer under the counter. Aesthetically, I really don't want the dishwasher sticking out several inches! Curious how things are going with your Cafe dishwasher! Thanks!...See MoreHolly- Kay
