Quick! Need help with faucet placement!

Granite people are coming to measure this morning and I forgot to consider where we should drill the faucet holes. We have a center-divide sink and a faucet with ONE separate handle and a soap dispenser. So that's three holes, meaning we should just drill the center three holes, right? The faucet would go in the middle, the lever on the right, and the soap dispenser on the left? Or should we do faucet in the center, lever on the right, and then soap dispenser on the far right? Our sink has 5 holes, and I'm just not sure if I should stick with a symmetrical look and treat the soap dispenser as a second lever, or put it off to the side as though it were a separate element... but then the faucet and lever would be off-center! I feel silly but this is so confusing... help!

I would center the faucet, place the handle on the right of the faucet and the soap dispenser an equal distance from the faucet on the left hand side. That will give you nice balance, nice symmetry.

Does your sink have equal-sized bowls? Or, is one smaller than the other?

I am of record as a fan of Grohe(thats different from Hansgrohe). I have praised their quality and dependability. We have the Grohe Rainshower Hand Shower #27085000 and are very pleased. It ios sold as a separate piece to be connected to your choice of stationary or hand held, ours is on a hand held mounting. I would like to say that we all should try to refrain from being commercial on the Garden Web forums. I would caution you before you purchase investigate the online vendor mentioned in the first response in the URL link. I have no dealings with them but have read enough negative to know to avoid them. Caveat Emptor.

Is it possible to put the spout and levers on to the half wall of the shower? Maybe you could build it up enough to have them coming out of the wall directly over the tub. Not sure where your plumbing access is though and if drain is on other end maybe you could mount them on that wall?

I'm struggling with the same decision. It isn't obvious to me which is the drain end of the tub. If it is by the shower, then placing the faucets next to the vanity would put them right into your back as you bathed. If it is the other end, then it seems like the vanity end would be the logical and convenient place. Is putting them as a wall mount on the long wall a possibility? You'd have to redo the sheetrock, but they'd not be in your back. You'd have to reach over the tub to turn them on, but it doesn't look like the tub is too wide to reach easily.

Thanks, Helene. It's done now. Not knowing what pendants we'll use, we pretty close just halved the island, and put a box in the middle of each side. Also, after seeing the recessed lights up (my dh installed those yesterday too), I think we still need add'l lighting over the island area. Therefore, I'm going to look for pendants that will put out more light, as opposed to a covered fixture. We did use props of different sizes, so I hope it's wired in the proper place. We'll see.... Thanks again!

I would place the faucet over the divide and the handle on which ever side works best for you...if you're right handed, probably the right side; left handed, the left side.

The SD could then go in the corner of either the other side or the same side...depending on where the larger bowl is (assuming a small/large bowl configuration). The problem with putting the SD the same distance as the faucet on the opposite side of the handle is that it could be too close to the faucet and/or crowd the smaller bowl...but maybe it will work for you.

I would do a quick mock-up to see what looks best to you. Try pantomiming working there as well to see how the setup will work. Play with it until it feels right and looks best.

If you can, figure out where you want the handle.

Dh is left handed and I am right handed and we found out in moving to a separate handle that we both use left hands to turn on water - the pot, plate or clean-up tool is in my right. So mine goes handle, faucet, soap dispenser.
