Integrated sinks

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what type of countertops would also offer an integrated sink? This seems like a great idea for us for ease of cleaning.

So far I know of Silestone. I really love the look of the recycled glass countertops but I don't think you can have the integrated sinks with those, right? I also wonder how heat tolerant these type of sinks would be, if you have boiling water or something.

Stainless steel. Ours is a Julien sink integrated with a stainless steel countertop.

Look also at undermount sinks -- Very similar in terms of cleanability.

FWIW I got a Swanstone counter with integrated sink in white. Its solid white (and I love it - so easy to clean). Bought it at big orange for cheap, after reading so poor reviews for cultured marble (which wasn't that much cheaper).

I've had a Corian integrated sink in my kitchen now for almost 15 years. It's the best sink I've EVER had! I love this sink - so easy to keep clean, doesn't show hard water spots in my hard water area (my stainless sink looked dirty all the time). I got the largest single sink and it is just bliss. One more option that is not at your list is quartzite. It is harder than granite, got the beauty of natural stone and once you seal it properly it will last a lifetime. Of course it is not easy to find a high standard of craftsmanship on this material because of its hardness and because it is natural stone. If it is done properly fully mitered and right crafted, it is incomparable. I think any countertop material (Concrete, soapstone, granite, stainless steel, marble, etc) except for Laminate allows you to have an integrated sink. With Corian, they will make an integrated sink out of Corian for you.

Are you looking for a truly integrated sink like Gizmonike posted or are you referring to an undermount sink? An undermount sink is mounted below the surface of the countertop and you can wipe stuff into them from the countertop very easily.

The only really truly totally integrated I know of are stainless and Corian (or other metals and plastics brands) when they're fabricated into the counter like Gizmo's. I've had both, as well as undermount and overmount, and they are by far my favorite. Undermounts are pretty good too, though--it's not much of a seam to worry about.

(I'm replacing the Corian that came with my kitchen with stainless. I really enjoyed the Corian from a functional standpoint but I don't really like the look in the style kitchen I want.)

My sister put in a Hi-Mac countertop last year (I think it's a Corian knock-off) and hers is an integrated sink in a beige color, even though her countertop is gold with flecks. She loves it.

Thanks you guys. I have never had anything besides your standard drop in sink. Regarding the undermount sinks, I understand that you can wipe into them, but I'm wondering if there is a little crevice underneath there that can get all grimy? We are not the "best" at scrubbing things and therefore want to make cleaning as easy as humanly possible for us.
