How much more clearance do you need? Is the window sill in granite or wood? Would decreasing the width of the window sill, even 1/4" or less, let the handle move as it needs to? I plan to ask them to shave a touch off the back of the sill if I absolutely have to at install for just such a snafu. My sill is going to be out of countertop material, though, and is 4" wide, so making it 3 3/4" wide wouldn't be terrible, just wouldn't fit a 4" herb pot as well.

I don't have a solution for you, but FWIW, the handle throw length on the PP pulldowns is longer than on any other pulldown I've looked at, so you might well be okay with a different faucet. (Pity if you have to do that, though--I love the look of the Treviso.)

Oh, and I don't blame you for not caring for the look, but I often see faucets installed on an angle to leave room for the handle, so it's not abnormal if you decide to do that.

Is there enough room to move the faucet forward? I am just thinking it would be some consolation if it is actually no one's fault. You may want to consider exchanging the faucet for one that the control sticks out underneath the faucet. My countertop man did the same thing. My faucet was a bridge, so there was no need for the faucet hole. He drilled one anyway. They repaired it, and you would never know. You are going to either have to change the faucet or have him out to patch things up. I agree, it would grate on me to have the handle tilted out, so that would not be an option.

i've seen some people in here install their faucet so the lever pulls straight out, towards the user. that would allow you the clearance you need and also look straight.

I haven't talked to dh yet this morning (he goes to work far earlier than I care to open my eyeballs..lol) but I think I will look for a different faucet.

I am looking into the Price Pfister Hanover which has a slightly smaller handle length. We only need about 3/16" for clearance. I also looked at the Amherst that has the control at the top of the faucet which will probably work best. It has a seperate sprayer but I'm not married to the pull-down. I just don't want the faucet to look like a mistake.

I'll just have to call the fabricator and ask them to come drill another hole for the sprayer. Hopefully they won't charge me :)

I am also going to propose that dh try to cut back the windowsill slightly, but I'll have to suggest that when he's in a good mood!

The handle is symmetrical so it wouldn't look off to center the handle right in the front....

The hanover comes as a single handler, too, just the like the treviso, but for some reason that particular vendor doesn't show it right now--you can get it, though, but check out the handle length--I don't think it's much different from the treviso. I know it was longer than the Kohler Vinnata.

You will either have to change faucets or move the faucet handle to the front. The water will easily clear your hand.

I have two Grohe K4 faucets with even larger faucet controls. I put in a 3" wide piece of lumber with enough clearance to exactly match where the granite would be installed. This gives you a ton of room behind the faucet, gives you 3" more countertop width andallows you to install 15" deep upper cabinets, rather than the standard 12", which now fits my plate chargers and servving platters, not to mention more room for plates, glasses, etc.

I didn't do this in the wet bar area because it is framed by two existing walls at standard cabinet depth. The Grohe K4 faucet comes forward considerably so there was no problem putting the faucet handle facing the user without getting close to the water. You just move your hand 1/2"-3/4" to either side of the water stream to reach the handle---it is hardly a hardship. The only hardship would be if youdon't like that look.

Can you leave the ring off?

Often that's an optional sort of thing, the "escutcheon". Can you go without it?

It might have some sort of rubber seal you'd need to replace, but I bet it can be done.

dh is going to attempt to reinstall the faucet tonight using a few of the options suggest here. Hopefully one of them will work for us.

We were able to use the faucet without the ring on the bottom. Dh just put a rubber seal on it so it wasn't grinding against the granite.
