which sink? - please give me some input!

I am so weary of looking at sinks but I have to finish this purchase and get on to the next thing. I would appreciate any feedback about stainless single basin sinks and your opinions about what looks good ( to you - I'm asking your opinion!)

I had a huge snafu this week when my countertop material didn't come thru - long story of poor communication but I ended up with a beveled laminate countertop in a linen color. The flooring is a matte finished chocolate brown tile that looks a lot like leather. The cabinets are being painted Benjamin Moore Sandy Brown with a Midnight Oil ( very dark blue) glaze only on the edeges

I have a 2-sided stainless sink that has been a workhorse so I'm leaning to a single basin stainless in the 33 x 22 size. But wow they are expensive. I found a 1-hole Kohler 3821-1 for $379 at Plumber Surplus. I'm having a hard time pressing the BUY button. Because this sink is very cool but I wonder how the sharp angled corners will look with my room

versus the softer curves of the similar Kohler sink $440

and then there is the cheaper version from Houzer at about $225 that I am not sure is worth buying because I've never heard of it

I feel so slow at this - despite the need to hurry up and decide I'm dragging my feet with indecision? All of these sinks say they are 18 gauge stainless. Thanks for your help!!

If you are going for mid century or modern, i like the first one, its different.
Otherwise, I like the simple curves of the second one

I prefer the curved corners. I think they'll be easier to clean.

Well... :-)! To pot or not to pot!!! Anyway, maybe I will wait another month, firstly because I don't have the time right now and secondly, I don't have the "right" mix right now. Over here where I am, I don't have any pre-mix orchid potting medium, no fir bark, perlite or the like. People around me use what they call "tree fern", very dry and porous, mixed with decomposed goat manure + little bit of lime to pot their cymbidiums. I have been using the same thing minus lime... for my other cymbidiums. So, I think I'm going to use the same mix for these bulbs, maybe I will try to tear the tree-fern into smaller bits. I also have some sphagnum moss and some pine bark that I can use too. What is your advice here? Many thanks. Xuan (from Vietnam)

I'm mostly a lurker, but wanted to share my experience with a vendor in India. About ten years ago, I was admirinig my neighbor's new curtains. She said she got them custom-made from some guy in India. Got his number from her and talked to him. After seeing some samples, selected the fabrics I wanted (silk for the LR and bed covers, faux-silk for the DR and BRs, and drapery fabric for the kitchen cafe curtains and valances). Gave him as accurate measurements of every window as I could, chose the pleats and length, etc. in about thre weeks, they were all shipped to us. Not a thing I didn't want or expect. We had someone come hang everything up and it was simply beautiful. Every single item. It's been 9 years and I still have them up and they look just as beautiful. Ad the prices were relatively low. Have given his name to others who've seen my curtains and asked where I got them. I have been a member for over ten years and I'm not pulling for any vendor. Just wanted to share. I'd post pictures if I knew how, but will try when I have some time.

Oh, missed a question! My KD uses a CAD (Computer Aided Design) software package. In her case, it has cabinet styles by maker as well as all of the options available from that cabinet maker. My KD drew up our kitchen w/actual dimensions of walls, doors/doorways, windows, ceiling, appliances, etc. and then designed the kitchen w/cabinetry in that "space". While she is doing this, she uses the elevation view (the view where you see the actual cabinets as if you are standing in front of them) to see how it "looks". I'm sure our KD already has a pretty good idea how things will look even without the elevation view, but she used it anyway. E.g., our KD drew up our kitchen and selected the Omega/Dynasty cabinet maker with the door we had originally selected (Danville). She then presented it to us. It was VERY helpful for me b/c I realized I had all slab drawers and didn't like (OK hated) the look. So, all she had to do was get into the program, change the door style (Artesia and later Anson) and the elevation was automatically redrawn with the new cabinets. When the design was finalized, the program produces the list of items along w/their costs. Granted, it's not quite as easy and quick as it sounds (if you've ever worked w/computer software it always takes tweaking, etc.) BUT, it's much faster and usually more accurate than hand-drawn designs. There is nothing wrong w/hand drawn, it's just a matter of what you're used to and how good you are at it. As with anything, however, the accuracy of both hand drawn and CAD drawings is dependent on the person entering the data/drawing up the design!

Yeah, I though a picture would be helpful! I'll see if I can get my son to help me with that! I have considered making my own, but for some reason I'd rather purchase them - even though I've made some in the past. I may have to repost my question (including pics) next week since we're busy with prom (and a trip w/kids to the lake) this weekend!

I love the look of the first one, but the practical side of me wonders how easy it would be to clean. I know some people swear that they don't have trouble cleaning zero radius corners, but I wonder.....

You may want to have a look at C-Tech sinks on ebay, they are 16 gauge and nice. here is one

Thanks for the bump to the other thread Boxerpups - couldn't have been more on topic!

This is my first time buying a sink but it looks like the availability of topmount sinks is less than undermount. I've never heard of some of these brands so for the sake of time, and my ignorance - I've probably crossed off some completely ok items.

I wonder if the "personality" of my backsplash should have anything to do with my choice.

Forgot to mention, some of the C-tech sinks are undermount or over and come with a templet for both.

Well this is where decisions start to trail behind each other. I wanted low maintenance in my high use kitchen and I was in a hurry and didn't know better and-and-and, and so I went with laminate countertops - which I am perfectly satisfied with EXCEPT, you need to mount faucets into a metal flange with laminate countertops - and that can only come with top-mount sinks.

And what I am finding is that the mfrs are making topmount but if you want to shop price for a higher end sink lke a large single basin - there isn't that much competition so the prices are not discounted. Anyway - live and learn

I think if your kitchen is more modern looking then definitely the 1st option....if your kitchen is more victorian or country or anything else, I like the 2nd option.
And definitely agree, it's the little things that turn out to be such a pain to decide on!
