Uh oh, the votes are going against glass. :-( Is glass not Mr. Right because it's cool and the wood is warm? I think I agree that the mosaic (even if same color) wouldn't be the right choice. Too small for the scale of the room? The accent tile on the tub wall also runs through the shower about 5' up from the floor. Would a third band over the sink make the room a bit too matchy-matchy? Plus it's matte stone, which, like travertine, doesn't go with polished granite in my mind. I'm not sure if I could get thinner tiles in the granite (Autumn Leaf), and if so, whether they'd match or look different. It's a pretty consistent pattern, so it might not be too bad. I'll see what I can find out in that regard. Maybe our fabricator can make tiles out of our removed backsplash?

They are making templates for my granite now. My layout is very similar to yours. And I was going to have tile sandwiched between the two strips of granite. However, I'd have even more contrast than you do. I was doing white subway and my granite will be honed black. I am totally thinking I don't want to do that now. But, back to you. I like the granite sandwiched between your granite counters better than the tiles. I think adding accents by taking out tiles and replacing them might make that area too busy. I think that if you use granite in that area, it would all look like one piece that is meant to go together.

Beautiful job!! I love your backsplash. I'm in the middle of a complete kitchen renovation and picked out the same faucet. Is that the "straight edge" or "pencil edge" on your granite? I am trying to decide which edging to use myself.

Ah, well it started off white. :) And job well done! Really love the walnut. I like the grey you found from Sico but it's reading a bit green on my monitor. Obviously, you'd need to test it out on a board and check it in your light, with your floor, etc. Btw, I found the gold backsplash I mentioned previously (in Cdn House and Home Feb 2019 issue). On second thought, it wouldn't work with your veined quartz. That magazine kitchen had an all white counter. So, if considering a metallic, then maybe stainless to coordinate with the veining or something coppery to go with the walnut? Your budget will determine your options as well. :) I love the idea of glass tiles (might be less expensive than painted glass?) but I'd go with larger format tiles than the ones in your pic. IMO, small tiles will look busy and detract from your counter. I think you can choose any colour that tickles your fancy and use it on the walls as well if you want. Are you in Montreal by chance? Have you looked at many tile places? I was browsing Centura Tile's site and they have some nice glossy faintly textured 3" x 12"s that look like glass tile. Honestly, I still think it's too small a tile for that seamless look I'd go for in your space but that's my preference. In the current shelter mags, there's still showing plenty of subway tiles in modern and contemporary kitchens. It's a classic tile. I just found a 10 x 30 tile available in glossy and matte. Available in 10 colours including white and grey. Might be worth a look? $7.20 a sq. ft. Centura - Lumen Go shopping and bring back all sorts of samples. Once in your space, you'll get a better feel of the size you'd like to see on the wall, any preference for colour, texture and decide if you want glossy, matte or even a mix. Only you can decide what you'll love to see there for the years to come. :)
