Help me compose a list of cabinet lines that have QS oak
Comments (28)I have been involved with Showplace Wood Products (Showplace Cabinetry) since it became a company (first posting) and would encourage you to check out a Showplace dealer for your quartersawn cabinetry I see Joyce mentioned having been quoted Showplace for a significant dollar amount and find the dollars mentioned alarming and certainly not normal. I would expect you would be able to buy Showplace very near Medallion. Could be a little higher or lower depending on how exact/similar the cabinets and/or installation are specified. Couple of important things that work in your favor right now; Showplace has significant price promotions directly related to species upcharges right now - this is especially important when shopping quartersawn since that is such a premium specie. Also, if you are interested in inset, Showplace recently reduced their pricing on inset somewhere areound 15% so if you couple that with the temporary specie price reduction you've really got something. The Showplace interior is not white, but it is a wood-grain printed laminate which is applied to plywood and has a urethane topcoat for durability and smoothness which is nice for cleaning. Finally, when you buy quartersawn white oak (and it is white oak which is more authentic than quartersawn red oak) from Showplace, all of the components from plywoods, to frames, doors, drawer fronts, moldings, etc are true quartersawn white oak. Many other brands will mix other oak material for items that are not as noticible but which prevent the total kitchen from having a truly authentic appearance. Check them out closely. I love the way this community appears to interact with everyone genuinely looking to be helpful. Best advice is always to check multiple brands and even dealers sometimes. I'm certain Showplace will earn their fare share of business from this group - they're that good. :)...See MoreWhat do I need to do to pursue Amish made cabinets?
Comments (6)I had the plan from my first kd in my hand when I went to DW. I did not like his plan, but he had the dimensions of the space provided to him from the builder, and his plan wasn't "original" since I sat with the builder and "moved this here, that there, etc." before going to see kd1. If you were to take that plan (let's say she had kraftmaid cabinets on it) and go to Home Depot or Lowe's to get a quote for those same cabinets, then it would be very wrong. Of course, the best thing, would be just to take the dimensions of the room with you and start fresh. If you would like to come here to see my Dutch Wood cabinets in my kitchen, just let me know. I am just outside Harrisburg. Shoot me an email: beekeeperswife at gmail dot com Dutch Wood was very easy to work with, they certainly always had a "can do" attitude whenever I called and asked if something could be done. There is also a company called Oxford Cabinet Shop in Oxford PA. It is Amish run, I believe you call, leave a message, then they call you back. Have only heard excellent things about them--I used to live very close to them. They were a GW favorite for a long time. Not Amish, but 2LittleFishies used a place in Harrisburg--her dreamy yellow custom kitchen is goreous: Gilreath Cabinetry. Maybe they are Amish, but I'm not exactly sure... Comments (6)I have not posted full picture of it yet. I'm waiting to have a photographer come by and do it sometime in the spring when the sun is up! My cell phone pics just simply do not do justice. I went with a company called "Focal Pointe Design". They've done a few other things in this house and they are fantastic. I'm not sure what your budget is but be warned they are up there. I love the quality of the workers and craftsmanship, the guys have almost become family! You can check out his website, my kitchen isn't on there and some of the stuff he has done for a few clients is pretty out there (such as the illuminated Onyx backsplash in this one mega mansion, orange viking range and purple fridge I believe). Just goes to show money can't always buy taste. But they can make pretty much anything you want my kitchen is pretty traditional and the bathrooms they've done are contemporary/transitional. Plus if your home is older like mine, they specialize in structural reconstruction which is almost always needed. I can't give a more glowing review of them. Good luck with your decision!...See Morebeaglesdoitbetter1
