Can I cry now?

I am so stressed over getting my kitchen done, as I have read many of you have gone through. I am trying to let things go and not sweat the small stuff. I got Kemper cabinets in whiskey black, which is a medium brown with a black glaze. I am not happy with the glazing job they did, It is blotchy in some spots and completely missing in others. The cabinet guy said they will replace the bad doors. But today after they started installing them, I found they left a glaze hand print on my refrigerator surround! ARGHHH! I already contacted my cabinet guy and the contractor who installed it to complain and try and get it replaced.

Good grief!! Was there a sticker on that cabinet with the name of the inspector? I would be screaming!

Yeah, but the plantain is all going to seed now. And I can see what happens if that's allowed... there are some vast mats of plantain babies in places where that happened earlier. I want to get them before that happens this week! Believe me, I don't want to do marathon lawn weeding either. I have a 1000 sf veg garden and lots of perennial beds I already have to stay on top of :(

To she who sees Granny, I grieve with you; I tend to have a spiritual take on things like this. First, I think you need to honor yourself- do what you need to do for yourself. If you do not take care of your needs you cannot be there for your daughter and grandkids. Take your time for you. Perhaps it is time to do something different -- just for you (or if you still have your husband the two of you). Go away somewhere, if you have the means, to find some peace and some spark of happiness in life. You did get to see your son grow into a man, and tragic as his loss and the loss of his fiance are - I would beleive that they are together in love. Surely you know enough of your son, the man, to know how much love he has for you. His love, i cannot help but believe, would want you to have whatever happiness you can in this world, in the years left to you. Then, for me personally, Christmas trees and evergreen branches are far older than Christmas itself. For centuries, bringing such evergreens into the house has been a way to remind us in the depth of winter that there is always hope for spring and new life. Life is eternal. Greenery celebrates that. The smell of fresh evergreens always reminds me of hope and eternal life; I leave you with that thought. Perhaps you dont want to put up the tree with ornaments of the past, your loss is still to near -- but perhaps, some fresh boughs? Maybe you can find a way to see in those grandchildren of yours something of the kinship of spirit with your son. Stories of him (in the next few years) will live on, and his legacy will not be forgotten. Also, you are still alive. your son taught you many things in those thirty years of life. In teaching those lessons to the next generation, you will be ensuring that your son's life is honored and passed on. Finally, think about the person in your life who gave you the most advice -- was it YOUR granny? Ask yourself, what would they advise you to do. How would they want you to experience life? I grieve with you; but I also wish you happy holidays -- however you chose to honor the season!

What is really sad is that all my adult children still living home are the boys 27 and 24 and my 21 yr old daughter. Would take too much time to get into why their. Biggest mistake parenting was not making them pick up their own messes. It was always "easier" to pick up after them. Now I have bred messy monsters. Still working on it, just finding new ways to make it work - like food for the oldest. He was up in 5 min flat. Listening to you ladies I decided to take a brain break today. It won't kill us to have a fridge that isn't really cold . All the expensive meat is in the downstairs freezer, they can use the grill, I have paper and plastic and all, and a Wendys, Subway, McDonalds 3 miles away. We can live another few days without a kitchen faucet, DW or the wacky fridge. As long as we have water to flush, hah, I can deal. EAM44, I love Short Beach. Until my brother downsized he had a place across from the beach. It really is beautiful. Curious as to what brought you to CT to begin with. And joanie, was the wedding at any of the churches on the green - they are all so beautiful. Seriously, what a small world. My husband already called a plumber he knew from church, but if this doesn't pan out I will call Bill Cole, it is 3 minutes to midnite and my brain can only drain so much! But joanie poanie, that suggestion was great. I am putting the chicken and peas suggestion in my favorites waiting for just the right moment. Let's see what tomorrow brings. As my mother (God bless her) always said, the sun always shine tomorrow, or sometimes the next day, it'll catch up eventually. You guys have no idea how much you have helped.

I am laughing because when my hubby did the drywall all of the white dust in my dirty grout made it look clean again! HAHA! It was a good thing at my house. Not that I don't feel for you lulundave. Now the drywall powder is gone and we'll be doing the same thing as you! Trying to find the original color which in my case is antique white (how dumb! What was I thinking when I chose that?)

I'd call the police in to get fingerprints, I would be TICKED off. Really == how many people saw that and proceeded with the order, shipping, installation?

Was that the hand-applied glaze you ordered, or the glazed-hand applied?

(Maybe it'll be funny after a glass of wine?)

So sorry this is happening to your order and hoping for speedy replacements!

That's just ridiculous! Where is the quality control??? Somehow there should have been someone who noticed this.

IS this dirt or grime from the installer? I don't see that dark color anywhere in your cabinetry.

Also, beware that the new item may be slightly different than the surrounding areas. Keep this panel, do not surrender, until you are ok with replacement.

Thanks, peytonroad, it is the glaze. That is a flat piece, so you can't tell as easily, but there is no question and it does not come off.

I told my kitchen guy to complain to Kemper about their lack of quality control. That and some of my doors should never have been shipped the way they are. This piece was packaged in a box, so I did not see it until it was up. Too bad the contractor didn't see it or he could have flipped the board over before putting screws into it on the other side.

My husband says to brush it off and live with it, but I know it will bother me for the rest of my years in this kitchen if I let this one go. I know it will delay the completion, but as many of you have expressed, things happen and count on the schedule slipping. I'll be talking to folks today to see what they will do and let you know.

Why you ask?
You have proof and visuals to demand they correct this.
I would send an e-mail and snail mail letter to Kemper
expressing your disappointment. And put a link to this
site and let them know you are sharing their lack of
Quality Control...
Kemper claims to be the oldest cabinet maker in America.
Lets see them correct this.

Truly a terrible situation. And I would bet if Kemper is
fair they will fix this and then some.

I just spoke to my kitchen guy. This morning after opeing my email with the photo, he ordered a new panel -at Kemper's expense- no questions asked. (Big sigh of relief) He said in the 20+ years of doing this he has never seen this before.

Thanks for all of your support! Lets hope this really has a happy ending.

What are the shelves in your Kemper cabinets? Are they plywood, veneer, or laminated (or some combination)? I am trying to decide between Kemper or Schuler...
