Your "room" looks great, I especially love the 4-legged helper you had! We have a similar sized space in Philly, and also have a roof deck. It is kind of fun having a small space, as you can change it around easily and you can splurge for special things as you don't need to fill such a large space. Astilbe, hosta's and bleeding heart are nice shade plants. I've grown them all in both containers and in the ground. Here's to enjoying a glass of wine in our outdoor rooms!

Thank you all.. it's been a great project.We bought it in December and its nice to finally have a place that is almost ready to enjoy for the summer. It was handy having a contractor right next door that we hired to do some of the heavy duty work like replacing the structural beam/post and recessing a bigger beam in the ceiling to open up the space more, and moving 3 windows to get a better layout and views. Imalm53 - I usually avoid offering opinions on color because its so subjective and personal, and because monitors affect what you see. But yours is one of my favorite kitchens. Plus I appreciated the step-by-step granite install photos that you posted awhile back. So here goes . . . I agree with some of the previous posters that bold colors would detract from your beautiful cabinets and granite. But I LOVE the colors of your accents . . . burgundy and yellow. Those are the colors of my kitchen. Sort of a mustard yellow on the walls with a burgundy rust on my window soffit. I love it for me, but I dont have the dramatic cabinets and granite that you have. (Its not done yet, so I dont have photos. ) I do like your idea of putting color on the fireplace wall. Hows about putting your burgundy on that wall, with your yellow on the mantle trim. Then using a softer coordinating color on the rest of the room. Then pulling those colors into your window treatment to tie it together. I was going to try to do a mock up but my monitor is playing havoc with the colors (getting mauve and some strange yellows). I just did a search and saw Benjamin Moores Pottery Barn Collection. Looks beautiful . . . at least on my monitor. Can you imagine doing some combination of this? Wow, it looks fabulous! I can see why you chose all those redroze elements, they just look so good together - I can't imagine anything looking better (but then, I bet that granite does shine in any kitchen). You must be so happy! You beat me by 2 days - I made breakfast on Sunday, and I made dinner and served it in the new dining room on Sunday night. We *could* have been eating on 8/7, but friends had us over for dinner, and I still had a ton of painting and cleaning to do, so Saturday ended up being pizza. I didn't feel right about making a meal and not having anywhere to serve it, so it had to be the kitchen AND dining room ready. Here's a picture of us eating:
