Hi rdeepika- I would take others advice regarding longevity for deciding type of materials (change doors or no, granite or laminte, etc) but I thought I'd show you ours since it is also oak and we went from light counters (white multi-fleck) to dark (uba tuba). The darker granite IMO does a lot for our oak. I think the tone might be slightly different than yours though. We also have porcelain tile floors that appear similar to yours in color. I'd definitely follow debraks advice on choosing granite if you go that route. We brought samples home to look at with our cupboards in our lighting as well as bringing doors along also. The granites I liked most on their own right did not look as nice with our cabinets. I was trying desperately to ditch the gold/yellow tone or down play it and everything I liked made it stand out more. Uba tuba has some of the gold flecks in it which worked with the oak instead of fighting it. Overall I think they compliment each other without necessarily calling attention to the oak. Again - just my thoughts on our kitchen. So for what it's worth - here is a visual (a picture is worth a thousand words right?): Old (sorry for the bad lighting - when dh decides he's ripping out you'd better get your before picture while the getting is good): New: I hope that is helpful. We (okay I was) were nervous about going from light to dark but I really like it now that it's done. We have a lot of natural light and put in UCL so the space doesn't feel dark or closed in at all. Welcome to the forum mimamima. Your question is a little like asking what color car you should buy. The considerations you need to make are manyfold...for picking a car or choosing your backsplash! Consider the other elements in the kitchen -- cabinets, appliance finish, paint. Black Canyon would look great with about a thousand different tiles....so much depends on the look you are going for...contemporary, traditional, country, retro, etc. You need to think about your budget and functionality as well, whether you want high maintenance or something that will hide the dirt between cleanings. I suggest looking at magazines and the Finished Kitchens Blog, to try to get a sense of what you like first. Good luck! And, we'll be here for you when you narrow down your options some. Greetings from Spain. Don't buy Silestone Leather!!!!.It looks wonderful but does not stand up to normal everyday work top use. It stains and it is impossible to remove any marks on it. (I have tried everything. I had a whole house refurbished here in Spain (and it's made here!!) The bench tops (Amazon Leather) have been a great disappointment. Also I have all the rest of the bathrooms (4) done in Tigris Sand Leather. Tops of the vanity units were fine but I wanted all the shower niches and the shelf tops , bath edges etc done in the same colour. They came back different...much darker. (They told me it was Tigris Sand and there was nothing else like it so it must have been.) I was told by the builder that because it wasn't 8mm thick like the vanity units (it was 4mm) they couldn't make the same colour!!! Its a terrible company and I wouldn't buy any from them again. It took months to get the order through so I had to accept what was given to me. Otherwise I would have been waiting for Kingdom come!!

I just installed KM antique oatmeal w/ ebony glaze. I LOVE them!! I was reluctant about my decision, but I am very happy with my choice. There are portions of the cabinets where the ebony glaze is more prevalent, but that is what I like about them. It gives them a more Old World feel. I will have to say that are more whitewashed looking than I expected. They look much darker in the KM idea book. You will have to be careful when picking paint colors and countertops. I went with Silestone-black canyon for the cabinets. Granite didn't work for me. The island will be antique onyx cabinets with a butcherblock counter. I really don't have much to show yet as just the cabinets are in, no counters, molding or appliances. I bought a majority of my cabinets at the KM outlet in Lordstown, OH for a steal. I'm not sure I would have paid the extra $$. Hope this helps.
