Sealing marble counter tops
Comments (9)annekendo: it sounds like etching. it's inevitable and no way to avoid. a honed surface will mask it better than polished. i don't think anyone will notice. marble is just too beautiful for anyone to go around looking for imperfections, especially when they are expected. i haven't heard of the "seal & enhance" but i'll be sure and buy that too, being as i appreciate overkill. jkillorin: i've only sealed a sample (about 2' square) but it doesn't feel as if there's any film or residue. i believe marble is one of the more porous stones, so the sealer (whichever you use) will get soaked in. from what i understand it will help prevent staining, but if something does manage to leave a mark it will fade away in time. this has at least been my experience. Comments (7)Thanks for your replies. FIRSTHOUSE. I love your kitchen. It is BEAUTIFUL. Your kitchen looks both "homey" , "clean and classic" and ELEGANT just as I imagined mine to be. We are having our cabinets made with glass fronts like yours also. And yes we have the same look in floors. We just had ours oak floors refinished with Miracle Oil, it is suppose to be tougher than poly, ( used in the Grand Ole' Opry dance floor.) Do you like them? We don't have our baseboards back up or furniture in the rooms yet , people think they are not finished. Here's another question FIRSTHOUSE, in the photo your counters look like marble. DH would like granite over marble over concern for marble's reputation. I've never seen white granite, can you tell me more about it ? What is its coloration ? Tell me all about your kitchen. Thank you so, so much for your inspiration....See MoreBest sealant for carrera marble countertops?
Comments (3)My marble yard only recommended SenGuard by Cosentino for white marbles. I have used it on my calacatta gold (honed) and have not seen any stains, and supposedly it lasts for 15+ years. I bought the sealant from the yard, but you can buy it at one place online, too. There's always the risk of etching, which has nothing to do with sealing, but honed marble hides the spots better....See MoreWhat countertop color to use in my kitchen with marble floors?
Comments (7)Have a look at Capri Limestone from Silestone. Medium colour that looks like it would play well with the veining in your floors. Or maybe Yukon Blanco, also from Silestone. If you go with a white, you'll want to make sure it is the same family of white as what is on your floor - ie cool white or warm white etc. I'd be tempted to go with something different like Silestone Charcoal Soapstone. I think it would look great with your cabinets. If there is a darker colour in the veining I think I'd look for something like that. From Caesarstone maybe something like London Grey. Off-White background with some subtle grey - you'd have to check if it would work with the flooring. Maybe just plain white quartz is your best bet. That floor is beautiful but i feel like it might really limit your choices to go with any pattern especially because of the waterfall design....See Morecalumin
