Question about end tiles for backsplash

Hello all,

I am nearing the finish line for my kitchen remodel (for which this board was the MOST invaluable resource-thank you!!!) and have a question about tile installation for my backsplash.

I have picked out a plain beveled 3 x 6 subway tile (from Ann Sack's Metro line, in alabaster), to be set in typical running bond fashion.

I am not fond of the look where a line of trim tile (bullnosed or otherwise) is run down vertically at the end of a backsplash. I think this layout sticks out a bit too much for my taste. I hope instead to use the smaller 3 x 3 beveled tiles to be set every other row, so there is no vertical line of just "edge" tile, if that makes any sense.

The only thing is the 3 x 3s in this line are not bullnosed. So I am concerned the edges of my tile layout overall will look too raw or unfinished.

Has anyone done this, and are you happy with the overall effect?
