Believe me! If I didn't have an engergetic almost-2-year-old who needs play space, I would definitely have less grass! This was as far out as I could negotiate with hubby... and besides, grass won't grow in a lot of that area anyway cuz of too much shade! Enter: HOSTA GLADE! LOL Ken.... I'm not a big fan of the location of that spruce myself. In fact, there WAS another one that was in a worse location that became a friend's Christmas tree last year! It's since been sodded over! That spruce USED to be included in the bed (till about 3 weeks ago. I have since moved the bed line back. There were a couple problems. I have the storm sewer grate about 5 feet behind that spruce and got CONSTANT runoff and erosion between the two...so much so that a couple hosta that WERE planted there were indeed killed by exposure of the roots. So, the 6-7 hosta that were in that little section have been relocated and I'll be turning that little section into a "dry stream bed" look. I need to buy the rock and get my teenage friend to help me move it! The back property line basically is right between my bed and the neighbor's ugly blue storage shed. The left property line can be seen if you look just behind the last silver maple, you'll see some black edging. My next door neighbors and I colaborated to make that bed transition look nice. On the right, there is 1 strip of grass between my bed and the neighbor's play set. That strip is ours. Becky: At last count, there were something like 200 or so. I have a "map" where I number each hosta and a spreadsheet with the number, name, year planted, source & this year I started recording eyes. There are some duplicates, but I'm trying to NOT buy anymore dups (except today, I'm buying more On Stage). Some are labeled... last year's stuff particularly. Thank you all for your kind comments.

They were doing a "rough clean" today. Monday the painters will be in to finish up. Electric meter to be installed on Wednesday and the movers are set for the 18th. There are still a bunch of details, but as soon as I can get more pictures, I'll post them. I've got a lot of information for anyone building on a steep site. Who would think there are steep sites in Texas -- but that's why Austin is such a great place. Oops. I mean Austin is horrible. No one move here. Please. No more.

Well I am STILL at it LOL....I was hoping to have this done by this Sunday........but I don't Know......this room is smaller then my dining room and I have had to really work hard on arranging things....plus my legs and arms are about to give out with all the running up and down the steps....taking things up there.....I must make 1000 trips a day LOl......I have 1 very large cabinet in the dining room that is going to have to stay in the dining room....filled with things....there is no room upstairs for it....so I have also been going thru that cabinet taking things I use all the time and things I don't use that often I am going to leave in that cabinet......also it stores some extra sewing machine and embroidery machine and serger......LOL.....I have 3 machines now up in the sewing room....My Janome . my singer xl6000 and my brother..which I use all the time...... Back to the drill tomorrow.......... Red
