I went with a cafe brown silgranit from homeperfect.com. I was able to get an ORB from overstock.com that matches very well to sink and my faucet.

I ordered the matching Blanco basket in black to match the sink. I either got it from faucetdirect.com or irawoodsandsons.com

I got my Blanco sink from faucetdirect but got the ss Blanco grid from irawoodsandsons-can't remember which internet source about the basket/strainer but I love that it matches the sink.

I ordered the Blanco baskets (two sinks in Anthracite similar to yours) in stainless from Homeperfect. They feel much more well-made than the ones I had in my previous sink. It was confusing on the Blanco site to figure out which ones to order, so I contacted CS. It was very difficult to get a straight answer about which ones to order, but I finally got an answer: Blanco 441093 Decorative Basket Waste Strainer, which is the one you want if you do NOT have a disposal. If you do, you'll do best to ask first if you want Blanco.

I really like the stainless in the black sink. The only problem I have with it is that occasionally something in the sink will push the basket down and close the seal when I don't want to fill the sink, but that may be a problem with any basket.

I don't think there's anything else you need to get, just optional stuff like the grid. I don't have one yet and I don't think I miss it, but many who have it love it.

Thanks for the responses. I will get to shopping for one drain basket for the prep sink and something that works with a disposal for the clean up sink.

Just for you, cj, I took a picture! ; ) So you can compare with chrisny's. The stainless, of course, will get scratched; mine is already, but I didn't notice until I took the picture. If you don't like scratches, the matching one might be better.

I would get the STAINLESS one for sure! As a KD, a few times when I have I sold the basket strainers that are solid colors, the homeowner has not been happy with them. Usually, most of the piece is made of plastic. But the main problem I've seen is the paint or plastic coating chipping off the strainer part.

I remember on customer brought in her basket strainer and the entire colored plastic coating popped off like a snake skin. That was MANY years ago and I believe the manufacturer went out of business. I think it was a European company.

I believe the Blanco colored basket strainers have a plastic body and coated metal strainers.

Call or e-mail CS and describe exactly what you want, and get them to give you the right number. The one I gave you would not be the right one. Congratulations on another decision made!

The black Blanco basket strainer is not plastic-it's metal-very sturdy. One thing you may want to consider-the black is more expensive than the chrome/stainless by about $5 or so.

The disposal should come with a "stopper"/drain fitting or it will be an option when you order the disposal. I received a very nice one with the Kitchen Aid disposal we ordered -- also very quiet (a Consumer Reports "best buy").

I'm interested in this thread since I am a little dismayed that the Ticor drain baskets seem to be cheap to me. My contractor told me to find what I want & he'll replace for me, but I was surprised when the fitting is silver colored plastic & basket feels light. Contractor says many are plastic today. Otherwise I'm very happy with my inexpensive Ticor stainless sink -- sorry to hi-jack the thread. Thanks for bringing it up.
