Anyone have a Jenn Air cooktop?
Comments (2)I was in a Habitat for Humanity store in Plano a few weeks ago. They had quite a few things for the home and will take about anything in good shape. They even had electrical and plumbing parts, light fixutres, kitchen appliances, doors, windows, knick-knacks, furniture, duct work, and plenty of other goodies for the homebuilder or do it yourselfer. We weren't necessarily looking for anything in particular, but did find a couple nice picture frames for 50 cents each - one was still new - had the original backing inside and sticker on the front. Anyway, a place like that would be glad to take your cooktop parts and you will get a receipt for your taxes. Even if you don't deduct the donation, you'll know it is going to a good cause....See MoreJenn Air induction cooktop comments
Comments (0)Hi. Does anyone have any comments on the 30" Jenn Air induction top? I cant find anything in the search. I have to confess Im not really much of a cook, so Im probably not going to notice some of the subtle nuances others might. The other option is Miele. We like the way the Miele is rimmed, but not sure the price difference is worth it for me since I doubt Ill be taking full advantage of either top's features. Plus we get a free DW with the JA (which we'd just sell). THanks,...See MoreThermador, Miela & Jenn-Air 36'' Induction Cooktops
Comments (14)Yes Soly, the red aura is the inner workings of the top when powerfully lit from above. I saw a little red on a Miele in a showroom, but the Kitchenaid I saw recently was alarmingly red. When my hood light is on I can look closely and my Gagg hobs are slightly burgundy, and if I peer down I can see a tiny bit of the workings in red. I don't know if the showroom lights were way more intense than a home hood, but the KA I saw really turned me off. You didn't have to be right above it to see it as you need to be with mine. There's no difference when it's operating...you know it doesn't glow red-hot like an electric smoothtop. Mine always appears black unless you're searching for the reddishness. The Thermador I saw in the showroom didn't seem to glow red either. And it looked really cool. But not as cool as the silver one! The Thermador was a top contendor...I just got a great deal on a fully warranty-ed discontinued Gagg for about what I'd pay for a GE...and I LOVE the knob! Maybe take a flashlight to a showroom and pretend to be a hood? Have you checked out the Bosch's? I think they now have the shut off timers, and Gagg, Therm, and Bosch are all made by the same crew. BTW, had a service check on my Gagg (5 year warranty!) and the dedicated Gagg/Therm/Bosch guy came out in his cool Bosch van. It was SO refreshing to have a tech actually know the product in and out. He says he responds to very few service calls on the induction units...just "is this what it's supposed to sound like" calls like mine. I'm sure it's the same with the Miele dudes. You'll love it no matter which you select!...See MoreDoes anyone have the new Jenn Air induction slide in range?
Comments (6)I got this range on July 3rd and am very happy so far. I never imagined ordering an appliance sight unseen, but am glad I took the leap. The main reasons I chose this oven over the Bosch, KA and Samsung are: large oven, no overlap of cooking surface on countertops, preferred handles over the KA ones, oven vents in back unlike the Samsung, the controls are on same plane as cooktop, lower drawer has handle unlike Bosch, and I preferred the burner layout. The only cooking and baking functions I have not used so far are convection bake or baking in the lower drawer, but LOVE induction cooking and bake sourdough bread every week and very pleased with results. I use parchment or a paper towel under the pans for most quick cooking tasks- only because I do not want to scratch the surface of this beauty. I expected a steeper learning curve getting used to the controls, but quickly adapted and so has my husband. This oven does take quite awhile to get up to 500 for the bread, but I can live with it. The oven fan is also quieter than I expected. The one strange thing that I don't understand, is why the drawer has 8 large holes in it. It did work very well/quickly to heat bread and imagine as a warming drawer it will work fine for shallow casseroles and pans. These ranges have a four-prong plug so be aware of that. the only differences I know between the JA and KA ranges are the handle options. KA has only the pro style and JA has a pro style and Euro which I wanted to go with our other Bosch appliances. So far, I am very happy with our range!...See Morechrisinsd
