Need some help about pull out trash can(s)
Comments (8)We retrofitted two pullouts in two cabs for recycling. The kitchen has all rollouts behind doors. *Definitely* get the door attached, however you do it, as opening the door then pulling out the bins while you have sometimes goopy nasty trash in your hands is a drag (we had that setup in a previous house). In one our current pullouts, we used the Revashelf two 35qt full extension pullout and door attachment that we bought at Lowes for nowhere near $375. However they are the chrome not stainless steel which may make a difference to you. The door mount kit is shown in the link below for $17.97. The 35qt full extension dual bin pullout is $80. $100 total (plus tax, wherever you are). In the other pullout, we used the existing rollout shelf and DH did a homemade door attachment. DH says that the Revashelf was far easier to do even though he had to add a small piece of luan to the door since it has a recessed panel. Since these were retrofits, we left the hinges on so that when the doors are closed, you can't even tell that they're pullouts. I love ''secret agent'' kitchens! Comments (3)Our trash pullout has two bins and we use both...one for trash & one for recycling. "Tall Kitchen bags"/13 gallons fit pretty well in them and we find that they're just right. Trash doesn't stay more than a day or two and so it doesn't have time to start "smelling". Years ago we tried using a large trash can (30 gallon), but it took too long to fill it...yes, it would "smell". We found that the 13-gallon bags are a good size...small enough that they fill up b/f starting to smell but large enough that we're not emptying them constantly, that large items will fit, and that one bag is less plastic than several small ones for the same volume/capacity....See MoreWhat's in your 15' pull out? Comments (2)I don't have a photo, but I have two 15" pull-outs. One has the KA mixer on the bottom and two internal drawers that hold trivets and potatos and onions. The other has two bins in the bottom that hold cat food and cat litter, and an interior drawer that holds everybody's leashes and flea/heartworm medicine....See MoreCan I hack a trash pull-out from an Ikea 15 inch depth cabinet base
Comments (19)The left is mounted on the side panel and the right is mounted on a special piece that IKEA sold for this application. Don't know if they still sell it, but I'm sure it could be reproduced. The center piece is basically a 1 1/2" piece of MDF that extends the depth of the cab and is secured at the back and front to the bottom of the cab. It functions as a short cab wall and I have a drawer rail mounted on both sides. In your case you could position in where you need to achieve your right wall. I hope I'm explaining this clearly enough, but hope this pic helps. I can take more pix tomorrow if that will help you. IKEA under sink pullouts...See Morejrmcmich
