I have small drawers and that is why I went with slab. Hope this helps.

Personally, if you like simple, I'd go for slab. I think it gives it a bit more a a contemporary look.

When we redid our kitchen in our previous house(a very small kitchen), we went with slab drawers (although the one drawer under the upper cabinet ended up shaker)

In our current house (new kitchen) we did the combination of slab and shaker style (which is not what you want, but I'll post anyway):

I definitely wanted shaker style drawers. It seems to me to be a more consistant look.

THANK YOU so much. I was truly in a panic and I cannot tell you how helpful it was to have my online community help me out with pictures just when I needed to see them. You guys are great, and I'll be happier with my kitchen because of the great site we have here.

My kitchen is not yet finished, but here is an old photo. I went with shaker drawerfronts everywhere. I am aiming for a very classic look though, but it sounds like you are looking for something more contemporary ?

Here's mine- combo of slab and shaker drawers.

Simple is what I like too, but it seems you might want more contemporary than this. Shaker doors with flush inset slab front drawers.

My cabinets are from Scherr's Custom Cabinets in North Dakota.
The wood is Quarter-sawn Red Oak. The stain is a custom color that I came up with, and which their finishing expert duplicated using a wash of a diluted mohawk yellow toner, followed by a an oil-based stain the same color as Minwax Special Walnut, followed by a clear non-yellowing top coat.

That was actually one of the many things that drew me to Scherr's. With most cabinet companies you have to select one of the three to five finish colors that they offer, with Scherr's you can select whatever exact color that works for you.

Oh, I love all of these. I can't wait to have shaker cabinets...and because of this thread I don't have to ask the same question later down the line.

Here's our variation on this from our kitchen in progress.

We have shaker uppers (some with glass some just regular) and all flat slab fronts. We wrangled with this decision too but wanted a more modern look so slab won and I love it. If you love a true shaker look though, shaker drawers will definitely reinforce that theme.

I got shaker drawers.

After my panicked request here, I also consulted TPTB (The Powers That Be, as I refer to the designer who helps us with our remodel; DH calls her "the high priced talent"). She said definitely shaker. By that time I'd seen all the pics posted here and realized I love all 3 options and can't make a bad decision no matter which way I go, so I just went with what she said.

I'm totally shocked that the cabinet order is DONE and I'm not nervous. After 48 or so kitchen layouts including major changes like originally doing a minor remodel, then a major, then swapping DR and kitchen, then going BACK to major redo of kitchen in existing space, I sort of feared we'd never actually commit and do the thing. It still seems very unreal at this point, so maybe that is why I'm not nervous.

The cabs are shaker with the wide rails and stiles (more contemporary) in a medium/dark cherry. I will have soapstone counters, I hope, and will keep my existing oak floors. I'm keeping some appliances and getting some new ones. The biggest change will be that I'm removing the bay at my kitchen table and doing a larger squared off bay so that there is room to actually move around the table when a diner is seated, plus I will get seating for 3 at the island.

We're supposed to start the heavy structural Aug 18 (bump out window), demo kitchen 2nd week of Sept around the same time cabinets are scheduled to arrive. I am expected to be without a real kitchen for 3-4 weeks and, with luck, the beloved GC and his crew will leave by Halloween, still beloved. let's hope that plan works!!!

Congratulations!!!!

Congrats on the order bluekit. I'm sure it is a great feeling to have that done. I know when I placed our order, I freaked out a bit. I saw pictures of the partially completed cabinets last weekend and freaked out a little bit more. It's shocking to see something that was on paper in actual pictures. Will be even more shocking to see them in person I assume. I know I won't have a good nights rest until they are onsite and I know they are all going to fit. Cabinetry has definitely been one of the biggest stressers for me.

So... How long until you see the beauties? I bet you are very excited! Congrats.
