What wood color or do painted cabs with my choices... pic heavy
Comments (23)prill... I really am contemplating using IKEA boxes and DH will build the door fronts. The only doors I will have are at the sink base and corner. I'm planning on uppers only the long 10' west wall where the window is. I think I want SS and glass there; kinda like the horizontal IKEA ones (if not those exactly); but I'll play that by ear. The style will be a very wide rail/style shaker like this: That is the Ultracraft door that I first fell in love with in the red birch. I think it's gorgeous but I'm just not seeing the reddish tone in my kitchen with the bakers table and floor. What do you all think? wolfgang, thanks for the compliment. Those trees are Latanya palms. (not sure if I spelled it correctly) When the really mature, they'll form a canopy over the pool. OH... and about wood cabs. I also adore walnut and teak but wonder if it would be too dark or if the teak would be too "streaky" with the floor....See Moreverde peacock and wall color?
Comments (12)Hi Suzan30, I love Verde Peacock granite. It has the green, gold, yellow, blue and black shades all wonderfully flowing together to creat little petals of movement. Looking at counters made of Verde makes me want to touch the smooth surface. Now let me see your other elements are... Red oak floors, (Which stain on these floors) natural maple cabinets, verde peacock Counters, Are you doing a backsplash? No worries I love the look of no backsplash like one of the photos below. Here are what others did with similar elements, maybe they can give you some insight into which color. Lucky for you all your elements are gorgeous so whatever color (red, Green, Blue, Gray, Yellow...even purple) you choose is going to look great. ~boxer Mrao77's kitchen from GW blue walls emiceekayee from FKBlog Quilter from GW did Saybrook Sage in her kitchen Lukkiirish from GW chose this yellow I am not sure which yellow but it looks lovely. I love this kitchen. No backsplash but it looks wonderful. I do not know the color. Some of these make me think of the above color... Rich Cream BM Silver Blonde Pratt and Lambert Verde Peacock granite this below is not Verde but it shows a pretty dark grey green with the maple cabs. A nice option Sangria by Benjamin Moore paints Soft white (not sure which) by Farrow and Ball paints Catmom's kitchen. Not sure the color she used but a light white gray would be pretty with Verde counters and maple cabinets. Comments (22)And please remember that photos of white kitchens are just a starting point. The light is really determining how they look. Photos of my old kitchen make them look bright white, but that is because they were photographed professionally in that picture. And they wanted it very bright. The same white will look different in each of our homes. I think you should go get the paint chips, bring to your house and look at with the counters there. If you are not in yet, then do not rush the color decision. It doesn't take the painter that long to have the paint mixed up! You need to see the color in your space in various lights with your granite. You cannot make this decision before you move in, or on a quick visit to the house at 5 pm. Ok? Take all the creamy white suggestions, go get the paint chips and then, when you are in there you will be able to eliminate probably all but 2 or 3....See Morehickory cabs/green granite/layouts...it's all here for input!
Comments (16)The space looks so much better in these photos, I don't think you need to do much, and you have some nice suggestions already. I would embrace the green without adding to it, so for the floor I would use slate tile that has the browns to echo your wood, a little coppery verdigris to echo the granite, and a little blue grey. This is a busy floor but while your granite has movement, to my eye it looks uniform enough to handle it. The rust colors may not be to your liking after your experience with copper paint - there are more subtle colors of slate. I would recommend light greyish blue for the walls. I'm showing you Ralph Lauren paint in Lisbon Blue (RLVM279) in a 75% tone (a little brighter than the 100%). It's really important not to choose too saturated a hue. Finally - you don't love your granite - why use it as a backsplash as well? You can still embrace it, while minimizing its presence by removing that 4"strip. This gives you room for bs tile, that will lighten and brighten beautifully. In keeping with the colors I chose, I'm showing you a glass mosaic tile with earth tones and light blues, lined with a grey green ("morning mist") glass tile. The board below shows them all together. Obviously, this represents my tastes. If you have a favorite color, let us know. I'm sure someone will think of a way to incorporate it....See More- 15 years ago
