Comments (9)Karl, thanks so much for your very kind offer! Rose "nuts" are some of the most generous people around! After I posted a local friend of a friend offered me cuttings, so I will try to root them. Thanks again for your kind offer. Petaloid, if I am not successful with rooting, I will check out Chalet Nursery. Thanks so much for the suggestion!...See MoreDoorknobs: Oil rubbed bronze on one side & brushed nickel other?
Comments (2)You sound just like me (2 years ago). My whole house is ORB. Master bathroom lights and plumbing fixtures are brushed nickel. DH didn't like the idea of ORB on the outside of the bathroom door and brushed nickel on the inside. So I have mixed metals in my bathroom. I asked here and in the decorating forum plus had seen tv shows with mixed metals. Most everyone thought it was fine to mix them. In my bathroom: door, closets and (dark stained) vanity have orb. Light fixtures and plumbing fixtures and tp ring, train rack are brushed nickel. I'm good with it :) Monica...See MoreSource for inexpensive crystal look beads
Comments (13)Well, the old blonde here forgot she'd recently recieved her Fire Mtn bead catalog in the mail. Looked up the 4 and 6 mm Swarovski bi-cone beads, they are the most sparkly in my opinion. You can get packs in different sizes but just for example, the 4mm in a pack of 48 is $2.25 for up to 14 packs. If you order more, the price goes down. The 6mm come in packs of 24 and they are for $2.42 each pack for up to 14 packs. The minimum shipping is $6.70. Otherwise it's approximately 10% of the order's cost. Hope this helps. I try to not look at their catalogs as I buy. Great deals and neat stuff, including charms. Karen Here is a link that might be useful: Fire Mountain Gems...See MoreDoorknob source?
Comments (9)I bought lots of beautiful antique glass doorknobs on Ebay. You have to search on "antique", "vintage", "glass door knob" in different combinations. I found some wonderful knobs, a few that weren't so wonderful--read the descriptions carefully! After getting lots of single knobs at great prices but paying postage and insurance, I finally wound up buying about a dozen sparkly clean knobs from a seller who specializes in knobs, hardware and stained glass. I think I paid $169 for 10 perfect knobs using "Buy it now". They cost more but were in perfect condition. Prices for single knobs ranged from $10-20, but that doesn't include backplates. Also, be sure that you are getting knobs that fit your house hardware--the mechanisms in old houses are different. A good source for reproduction hardware is Rejuvenation Hardware. They are online and have a great catalogue. Expensive but excellent quality and service. By the way, the fun of collecting old knobs is noticing the many variations--they are quite wonderful. I'm going to make a shadowbox to display the ones I didn't use on the doors!...See Morepalimpsest
