Remember that the color will look lighter with the sheen of the enamel on the cabinets. I'm surprised that Rockport looks at all green in your room, because it looks, if anything, taupe, against the chip of the color I used. Do you have all your lighting in, and have you checked the color at different times of day?

My range area cabinets are BM Sabre Gray. I wanted a creamy gray... not taupe, not green, and certainly not bluish. I'm not sure I got quite what I had imagined. When my husband once referred to them as 'the blue cabinets,' he almost had an immediate new job on his honey-do list to repaint! ;-) But I haven't so far.

They're not as dove gray or creamy gray as I'd wanted. But I'm afraid of those colors looking taupe, and I definitely want them to read gray. But Rockport was one of the ones I'd considered. It's about the same, in terms of lightness and darkness, as the Sabre.

I thought, at first, I wanted Sea Haze, but then realized how much green it had. I did use that in my laundry room, and it looks gray, but it's different lighting.

I had all the BM colors available on my drafting software that created my 3D views while I was planning. Unfortunately, between software and monitor they lost accuracy and it was only partly helpful.

Anyway, I'm just rambling, but that's about how my thought process went! I have some swatches of grays here, but none of the are cumulous cloud. I think if you're afraid it's too light, it probably is. What's the next darkest gray? Or is the next one on the swatch not really the same tones? I've had that happen and it's aggravating... I often want 'this, but just lighter or darker' and the strip doesn't really offer colors like that.

Here are 2 pics I took of the Sabre and Rockport chips next to each other. I'd say the reality, at least looking on my monitor, is closest to the right side, but actually somewhere in between these 2. But you might be able to see how I'm seeing taupe in the Rockport next to the Sabre. The safest thing is to get samples of the colors, if you can (our store has sample pots of some colors... some I had to buy in quart sizes to try out), and paint them on 2 ft pieces of plywood or something, and place them, up-right, in the approximate location you'll have cabinets to see how the light works with the color for you.

BTW, my cabinets sometimes come across as greenish in photos, I'm guessing, since I've had previous questions from forum members about my 'green' cabinets. But they're not at all green in person.

Looking on BM's site, it looks like La Paloma Gray 1551, is the darker shade of Cumulus Cloud, but maybe you know that. It looks to be in the same dark/light area as Sabre and Rockport, but pinker than Rockport, so maybe you'll be rid of what looks like green in your room.

I just saw your inspiration pics on your other thread. I can see what you're going for and why the Cumulus Cloud might be better than the Rockport or La Paloma.

Rhome, tks for taking the time out to do that with the chips. I can't believe how the color changes. yes I see images of the rockport and fieldstone grey and they look beautiful in photos, in my house with lots of light it's green. So now I feel I have to go lighter than what i orig. imagined, becasue the cumulous cloud sample does look like a nice true grey in my space.
