Comments (3)Follow up to my own post. I think I misinterpreted the function of the throttle. It makes more sense to say it admits more air to the intake, which sucks more gasoline (or propane) in for acceleration. The governor, connected to the throttle also, does the same thing to maintain a constant speed. I do notice a lot of posts dealing with carburetor and gasoline problems. Many of the responses advise rebuilding the carb, using carb cleaner, cleaning jets, even getting a whole new carb, and throwing out stale gas. Also cited are possible seal deterioration from ethanol, and other problems/solutions. I am surprised more people don't try the propane option. By the way, there are several manufacturers of conversion equipment, some of them much cheaper than Altfuel. I only went with them because other websites were almost impenetrable to navigate, and confusing when trying to figure out whether their system would work with my situation....See MoreRecommendations for propane gas range?
Comments (1)Bump! Anyone? I heard back from the appliance store and he suggested the JennAir range, JDS8860BDP. I haven't even looked at that one yet, but would love to hear from someone who has a propane range - midlevel price and whether they are happy with it. If I need to, I can probably convince dh to spend up to $2400....See MorePropane vs. Natural Gas Ranges
Comments (1)Propane is a good, clean fuel but as we only just discovered, supplier and inadequately maintained tank may make a difference. We are in the process of replacing our oven as it ignites late subsequently releasing an escalating amount of noxious odourant (added to warn of a potential leak). In the meantime we also replaced our propane supplier and tank of over twenty years for other reasons entirely. Much to our surprise the odor left with the old supplier and the oven is still here. We ensured the propane still has sufficient odourant in it to catch our attention but for whatever reason (concentration of odourant in tank?) it does not have us checking the oven to ensure it is lit....See MoreGas water heater won't stay lit after running out of propane
Comments (4)It is likely air in the line leading from main to heater. I suggest haveing the propane company send someone back out because their service call is much cheaper than a plumber's. Relighting it yourself based on instructions gleaned on the net is not a good idea. . Time for a story about tinkering with propane gas. Man jumped out of a plane for his first parachute jump. Unfortunatly he wasn't paying attention when given instructions earlier about operating his chute. Just as he was giving up hope,he sees another man flying up toward him from the ground. As they passed he shouts "hey do you know how to open a parachute? "No,comes the reply,do you know how to light the pilot on a propane water heater?"...See MoreSusied3
