faucet suggestions - Kohler Vinnata too large in person

So, based on my online searches (and some positive comments here) I planned on getting the Kohler K690 and K691 Vinnata faucets for main and prep sink. However, my wife and I saw them in person and they are just a bit too big. Not really too tall or deep but too thick and beefy. This mass does not show online but it sure is meaty in person.

We like the styling so can anyone provide suggestions for similar quality faucets and similar styling but not quite so beefy.

I saw the Kohler I planned to get at HD last week and thought the same thing. don't know that I've ever seen such a fat faucet. I'm rethinking it and relooking at faucets I had as my 2nd and 3rd options.

How about the Grohe Bridgeford? It's similar in style and price and is a great faucet.

I have the Vinnata in the brushed nickel. I love the finish. Here's a close-up pic from my finished kitchen photos (my thread with the link is a page or two back by now, I imagine). The other faucet in the pic is the Kohler beverage faucet, Wellspring.

Caligirl, that's one of my fears - that it will look massive. I agree that everyone's look great in their photos. I've also seen it at a store now too and it looked beautiful. But I keep imagining that for some reason it will look wrong in our kitchen ... mind you this feeling isn't just reserved for the faucet, I think I'm just worried that everything will look wrong for one reason or another! I think I'm just generally freaking out. Thanks for the recommendation of faucetdirect. I'm considering buying from them. Hope your faucet looks great once you install it. Would love to see pics too. Buehl, thanks again. So many little bits and pieces to decide on and order! I think we are going to order the Vinnata. I think we will go for the big one ... or maybe we'll get both, see how they look and send one back. Now we have to agree on the finish - I want the brushed nickel; DH wants chrome. I think he just likes the way the chrome sparkles in the store. I've tried to explain to him that it won't sparkle like that for long in our home, given that we'll actually be using it. He imagines that we'll keep polishing it ... or perhaps more accurately he imagines that I'll keep polishing it. I can count on my kitty's fingers the number of times he has polished our current chrome faucet :)

I bought my Vinnata on ebay - and it had a problem - it was all wobbly and I was SO sad because we were 'stuck' with it (although, we got it for $299 for a chrome one, so it was SUCH a good price!) Well, I called Kohler and they sent me a replacement part for free along with detailed directions on how to fix myself, and it works perfectly now. I was so impressed with Kohler, we didn't have a warranty because of how we ordered it -not from an authorized dealer, but they were helpful and knowledgeable. If I had to do over, I would probably risk it again. We had a $300 budget for our faucet, and I REALLY wanted a Vinnata, so it worked out. It was EXTREMELY nerve-wracking waiting for it (I was worried it wouldn't have all the parts). And it was heart-breaking when there actually a problem, but as they say on Little House on the Prairie, alls well that ends well. BTW - our faucet wasn't actually broken at all, it just needed to be taken apart and have a part tightened - didn't actually need the replacement part. The faucet is so well-made.

We used the 691 (the smaller one). It's paired with our 30" Shaw farmhouse sink and its right in front of a window. I saw the large one in a showroom and I thought it might be too big so we went with the smaller one. I love it and it's just the right size. Honestly though, I think you can't go wrong with either one. Whichever one you choose, you'll end up getting used to it and it will blend in with the rest of the kitchen. Good luck!

Ha. I had the same reaction to my new faucet. I'll link my thread about it below. It of course looks perfectly fine now, on the new sink in its new location; it was mostly the comparison with my old faucet that made it look huge. But the shafts of many of the new faucets really are bigger than the old ones. My dad nailed it -- he figured it was the pullout function that drives that, because the shaft has to be big enough to accommodate the hose. If you really want a more slender faucet, find one with a side sprayer. But I love the function of my pulldown and I wouldn't want to give that up, now that I've been using it for a few months.

The Grohe Bridgeford is a gorgeous faucet and mechanically seems awesome. That was the one I wanted but it didn't work for us because of the handle issue. Size wise in-person it isn't overwhelming like other faucets and I like the style. We ended up going with a Hangrohe faucet. If the Bridgeford is out of the range you want to spend you could check out the Delta Savile at Lowes. Some other Delta faucets are on the shorter, less beefy side.

thanks for the suggestions...and for the link to the other discussion - very entertaining...

good comment on the extra beef being caused by the pull down internals - makes sense.

I like the look of the woodmere - although relative to other Moen's its quite expensive...not sure why that is.

The Grohe I had not seen before so thank you for that...

I was going to get the vinnata too but ended up with the single lever delta Leland. It's awesome and one third the price.

We first selected a Delta faucet that turned out, in person, to be too big. We ended up with an Elkay that was similar but slimmer and not so tall. Both were pull-downs. You might want to check out Elkay and check the specs.
