Oh, I know this one! Someone (maybe ajard?) posted a remedy to remove etching. I remember it worked on some people's marbles, but not on everyones. I think Staceyneil was out of luck.

A Google search is the only way to find it. It was something like "Poof! marble etching gone!" or something like that.

I'll go tomorrow to get the scotch brite pads and marble cleaner and try it on just a portion, just to make sure it works. This is some serious etching. It doesn't make me crazy though. I knew from the get-go that something like this would happen with my busy crazy kitchen. So if it doesn't work all that well, we can just consider it the first bit of character.

I know that method helped remove some marks/etches on our honed travertine floor tiles in our guest bathroom. Try it in an inconspicuous area and see if it works for your marble.

I have 7 year old marble and i use Tin oxide for etchings. My marble has a shiny honed finish, it was my only honed option at the time i purchaced and scotchbright leaves an etching on my finish but tin oxide helps new etches quite a bit. I could only obtain the tinoxide from a jewlery site, it is a lapidary polish and it was sold by Lortone,inc.
