lattice cabinet panels or other interesting doors

Does anyone have lattice cabinet panels? How about another kind of mesh or interesting design in your glass? Would love to see pictures. Thanks!

Mine were custom made and the doors are three different woods. The cabinet boxes are all maple while the doors are either Maple Cherry or inlaid with cherry and hickory squares.

I've been doing the research on several fridges myself for a remodel and have decided on the panel ready KA KFCO22EVBL. Depends on your cabinet maker as to the costs of the individual panels but 18' appliance handles are about $110 each depending also on the finish. I finally found one on display today and it was a decent fridge. Nothing like Subzero, of course, but less than half the price! There,of course, with difference in the hinge of the Subzero that pulls the door out a inch or two to prevent the door from touching or scraping the cabinetry. Nice, but not worth an extra $3000.

Gingerbread porch + lattice privacy panel?

From the picture, what about keeping the openings the same size as the oblong ones on your columns? Something else just occurred--I'd try having the top end just at the low end of your gingerbread, and the bottom line up with the base blocks of your columns--you'd get air circulation that way, but not be able to see the bad views. I know what you mean, by the way--my porch's south end is about seven feet from my neighbor's, and the north end looks out onto an intersection and the other neighbor about forty feet away! It sucks living in town! The nice things about vines is this: they grow UP--the sun will draw them to it--and you could prune the bush a bit. Another vine option is clematis, which may do great with the bush to keep it's roots cool--I've tried four times to grow one without success. A note about wisteria--try to get one which has already bloomed, otherwise it will take YEARS to do so, though it will put out foliage like crazy. Also, wisteria can be very strong, and could tear apart a light trellis. Mine did that within a few years, and after eight, it still hadn't bloomed, so I took it out.

From the attached link: Raised Panel - Solid Even though the panel is called solid, it is not usually made of a single piece of wood. Wood expands and contracts with changes in humidity, and this can cause the door to split and crack. To counteract the problems of natural movement in a solid wood center panel, the panel is usually constructed using several pieces of solid stock lumber glued together. The wood strips used to construct the panel may not all match in graining and color. As in the case of the slab door, the door's strength comes from the manner in which the pieces of solid wood are reversed as they are glued. The panel is then cut on all four sides, so the center is higher than the edges. The face of the panel is usually flush with the front surface of the stiles and rails, with the edges forming a tongue which fits a corresponding groove cut into the door frame. The groove is slightly larger than the panel's edge to allow the panel to float in the frame. This simply means that the panel has room to expand and contract during humidity changes, reducing the risk of the panel cracking or splitting. I gather from the Woodmode site that this is how they construct raised panel doors as they describe their raised panel doors as being constructed from solid wood. How big an issue the movement of the centre panel in a flat panel door will be probably depends on geography (I have seen some dramatic examples here that am sure would not be acceptable to many folks while I tend to think the hairline cracking I have seen is part of the charm and patina of age of painted cabinetry. In terms of Woodmode they do kiln dry all their wood which may in part explain why they have not have felt they would get better performance from an MDF centre panel that some companies are opting for. I also think it is a market issue a lot of Consumer's in the US have a real aversion to composite wood products regardless of the possible benefits (this does not really carry over to Europe or Canada). Cabico and many other Quebec companies offer 100% MDF doors for paint finishes (same opaque finishes are usually available on maple at Cabico). Lots of their MDF door styles are raised panel. Shaker Cabinets & other interior doors in kitchen

we installed white shaker cabs in the kitchen reno. I replaced the pantry door with a similar shaker style glass door but didn't replace the door to the mudroom. if we did that, we'd have to replace all the doors in the house (6 panel), and our overall house isn't craftsman or shaker style, so the doors would have looked a little out of place outside of the kitchen.

I don't have any yet, but for the built-ins around our family room fireplace I am planning on having (metal) fretwork as the panel. (like this:

I love the look. Love it!

It's not lattice (I believe it's open chicken wire) but you should check out Allison0704's hutch.

I saw the HGTV show which inspired loves2's kitchen (the circus kitchen) but every time I see hers I am reminded how far superlative hers is. I just love looking at that space!

That fretwork is really cute. Is it something the cab company has or something you are adding? Is it from some odd part of Home Depot (like the heating/furnace area)?

I will have hammered copper panels in two of my cabinet dooers. Don't have a pic yet but will post when I do.

I almosy did the lattice on the cooktop cabinet, but can't remember why I changed my mind. The showroom had a display with it, and it was very nice - used as a focal point.

There was a thread on lattic panels a while back, maybe Feb or March of this year. Do a search of the kitchen forum specifically. This forum leaves no kitchen whim undiscussed!

In the meantime, check out www.premiercb.com. I saw a kitchen with their Duboise door style that had lattice accent doors. Kind of a Victorian garden vibe, with small spaced diagonal lattice where you might otherwise see mullioned glass fronts.

According to the "resources" section of the magazine, the KD was Scott Grandis at www.bellacucinakitchens.com. Hope that helps.

kelleg -- the metal fretwork I'm getting is from McNichols, their Phoenix branch (it's closest to me). Our carpenters will be site-building the cabinets / bookcases and I'll supply the metal (they'll attach it), and then I'll paint it all. OR, I'll look into having the metal powder-coated and then attached. We'll figure it out together.

I did try both Home Depot and Lowe's (my nearby home building stores) for this material, which I just know I saw in Home Depot in CA (where I used to live -- I'm now in CO), but neither of those stores have it. It's been used for radiator covers for a long time but I'm just out of ideas for where to purchase it locally .... Love the internet!
