Different countertops for different walls?

I believe that I have decided to keep all of the cabinetry one color (Divinity White) instead of trying to use a stained cabinet on the non L wall because Im not sure that my kitchen is big enough for more than one finish in the cabinets. However, I am getting ready to go look at granites, and I thought that maybe two different countertops would work. From looking at all the beautiful kitchens on this website, I know am drawn to a dark countertop. Would a wood countertop work on the "other wall"? A lighter countertop? keep it all uniform with one color? It will not be a food prep area, Im thinking command center, counter space for serving, etc. I have 2 glass cabinets in the center, but the rest of it is storage. I keep seeing different cab/counters with islands, but not as much with other wall units.

And if you see anything that you would change with layout, Id love to know.
